Julius Kim is a Soviet, Russian and Israeli bard, poet, composer, playwright, screenwriter. He is one of the founders of the bard (author's) song.
Childhood and youth Julia Kima
The artist's date of birth is December 23, 1936. He was born in the very heart of Russia - Moscow, in the family of a Korean Kim Sher San and a Russian woman - Nina Vsesvyatskaya.
He had a difficult childhood. Being very small, he lost the main people in his life. The father was shot when Kim Jr. was just a baby. Around the same time period, my mother was sent to prison for 5 years. They were recognized as "enemies of the people". Only at the end of the 40s, the artist's mother was pardoned.
After the verdict was passed on the parents - the children were assigned to the baby house. A couple of months later, Julia, along with her sister, was taken by her grandfather. Now the care and efforts to provide for children fell on the shoulders of the elderly. They were not going to give up Julius and Alina, no matter how hard it was for them. After the death of grandparents, the children were assigned to close relatives.
In the mid-40s of the last century, little Kim saw his mother for the first time. It was an unforgettable experience. When the woman was released, she learned that she did not have the right to reside in Moscow. She took the children and went with them to the 101st kilometer. A woman who lost any support realized that she could not survive in this place. The family ate and ate to make ends meet. They often went hungry.
Without thinking twice, she decided to move to sunny Turkmenistan. During this period of time, the inhabitants of this country lived more calmly - mother Julia was reassured by food prices. Finally, she could cook hearty meals for the children.
Education and the first work of Yuli Kim
In the mid-50s, Julius Kim returned to the capital of Russia. A young man came to Moscow for higher education. He entered the Pedagogical University, choosing for himself the faculty of history and philology.
After graduating from high school, he went to Kamchatka, to the village of Anapka. Some time later he was again sent to Moscow. He taught at a boarding school.
From the mid-60s of the last century, Yuliy began his dissident and human rights activities. He advocated that the authorities stop "poisoning" people who live and think "differently."
At the end of the 60s, the directorate of the orphanage asked Kim to "voluntarily" write a letter of resignation. During this period of time, he was already composing musical works that many did not like.
Criticism of the authorities and teachers in the works of Julius frankly angered the director. Meanwhile, from the windows of ordinary Moscow apartments came the words of the songs "Lawyer's Waltz" and "Lords and Ladies", the author of which was Kim.
He gladly said goodbye to the "golden cage", setting off for free swimming. According to the musician, in the Lubyanka, where the artist was invited for a conversation, he was allowed to earn a living by creative work. The artist could express himself in theater and cinema. But, he had to suddenly leave the first ranks of dissidents.
From this period of time, fans knew him under the creative pseudonym Y. Mikhailov. Until the mid-80s of the last century, he worked under this name, not being able to confirm authorship as Julius Kim.
The creative path of Yuli Kim
Even in his student years, he began to write his own works. He sang author's songs with a guitar. By the way, that's why friends gave him the nickname "Guitarist".
He took up creativity with renewed vigor when he returned to Moscow. The first concerts of the original bard started in the early 60s. After he gained fame, the artist received an offer to star in films. So, in the 63rd year, fans enjoyed the tape "Newton Street, Building 1" with his participation.
The debut on the theater stage took place 5 years later. Around the same period of time, he wrote the musical accompaniment for the play As You Like It. By the way, the production has found great interest among the audience.
After a conversation at the Lubyanka, he practically stopped holding solo concerts. But, in general, the decision of the authorities did not make him "weather". He continued to collaborate with film and theater directors.
During this period of time, he composes plays, musical works for the theater and feature films, as well as compositions for theatrical productions and feature films.

He received the title of the founder of the bard movement. In order to be imbued with the work of the bard, you should definitely listen to the works “Horses Walk”, “My Sail Turns White”, “The Crane Flies Through the Sky”, “It's Ridiculous, Funny, Reckless, Magical”. The music for his poems was composed by famous Soviet composers.
In the mid-80s, he got the lead role in Noah and His Sons. Then he first came out under his real name, not his stage name. The authorities gradually relieved pressure on the artist.
On the wave of popularity, he presents a full-length disc. We are talking about the collection "Whale Fish". Finally, the first articles about Kim appeared in a number of Soviet publications. Thus, almost every citizen of the USSR learns about his talent.
The artist's discography reads several dozen vinyl and laser records. The musician's works take pride of place in all anthologies of bardic compositions. In addition, he is also known as a poet and screenwriter.
Today the bard lives in two countries. He is an honorary and always welcome guest of Israel and the Russian Federation. In 2008, he visited the Russian Federation to take part in the festival "Again" Under the Integral ".
Yulia Kim: details of the artist's personal life
At the stage of development of his creative career, he met Ira Yakir, who in the mid-60s became the official wife of Yuli. Soon, a common daughter was born in the marriage, who was named Natasha.
At the end of the 90s, he and his wife moved to Israel. Irina Yakir suffered from a fatal illness. The husband hoped that in this country she would be helped. Alas, the miracle did not happen. The wife died a year later.
He grieved the loss of his first love. But, Kim, as a creative person, simply could not be left without a source of inspiration. Soon he married Lydia Lugovoi.
Julius Kim: our days
In September 2014, the artist wrote the satirical piece of music "March of the Fifth Column". In it, Julius condemned the situation related to the war on the territory of Ukraine.
A couple of years later, he celebrated a round date - 80 years since his birth. At the same time, he was awarded the Capital Helsinki Group Award for the protection of human rights through culture and art. In 2016, the premiere of the author's book "And I was there" took place.
In 2019, he gave an extended interview and held a home concert in Düsseldorf. Then the artist toured a lot. Including his concerts took place in the first homeland - in Russia.
In 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, he canceled a number of concerts. But he pleased the fans of his work with home performances.
On September 14, 2021, a creative evening of Yuli Kim took place in the lecture hall "Direct Speech". The program included bardic compositions and works based on poems by Yuliy Chersanovich for famous films.
