Abraham Mateo is a young but already very famous musician from Spain. He became popular as a singer, songwriter and composer as early as 10 years old. Today he is one of the youngest and most famous Latin American musicians.
The early years of Abraham Mateo
The boy was born on August 25, 1998 in the city of San Fernando (Spain). Abraham's career began very early - he was only 4 years old when he won the first music television award. Since then, the whole world began to gradually learn about the boy. He became a regular participant in various television shows, competitions and festivals, won first places in various tops and was nominated for awards.
The artist's father was a simple builder, and his mother was a housewife. But the grandfathers on both lines were engaged in music all their lives - one sang in the church choir, the other performed flamenco. By the way, Abraham's mother also has excellent vocal abilities and loves to perform Spanish folk music.
The main success in childhood, the rising star received thanks to children's television shows. In them, talented children tried to prove themselves. Mateo stood out among them with unusually strong vocals and clearly choreographed singing. That's why he became popular so quickly. In a frantic rhythm, life began to spin in 2009. A ten-year-old boy (or rather, of course, his parents) was offered to sign a contract to record and release his first solo album.
The offer was made by the Spanish branch of the label EMI Music. Within a few months, the disc Abraham Mateo was recorded. Jacobo Calderon acted as the record's producer. The songs of other musicians were taken as the basis, for which the boy created cover versions. However, there were also original compositions written specifically for Abraham.
The record enjoyed a certain popularity, but it was too early to talk about world fame. After the release of his debut album, Mateo has been creating new cover versions of famous hits, posting them on YouTube. He wrote his first song in 2011. It was a Latin composition called Desde Que Te Fuiste. The song went on sale on iTunes the same year.
Increasing popularity of Abraham Mateo
2012 was marked by the signing of a new contract with Sony Music. During the year, they prepared the second studio album, which was very different from the debut. The record was already a more adult work, on which the strengthened voice of a teenager was heard. The release immediately hit the main charts in Spain and took the 6th position in the top albums of 2012.
This release charted for over 50 weeks and was certified gold in the country.
The most popular single from the release was Señorita. In 2013, a video was shot for the song, which was recognized as the most viewed in Spain. Starting with this release, the teenager was no longer perceived as a cute child. Now he became a full-fledged creative unit and was ready to "fight" for awards with the masters of the Spanish music scene.
In 2014, a big tour was organized in support of the album. For six months, the boy traveled to almost four dozen cities. Many concerts were held in huge halls (up to 20 thousand people). Abraham became a Spanish star despite his young age.
Immediately after the first round, the second one took place - this time in Latin America. Halls for 5-7 thousand people were waiting for the teenager here. He became one of the most popular foreign artists in Latin America. That is why he was later called "a popular Latin American performer."
Who I AM is the musician's third work, recorded in the USA with producers in the early 2010s. It was an experimental release, which, due to the variety of arrangements, cannot be called stylistically tied to any one genre. There are also classical things here - funk, jazz, break-beat. As well as more modern trends - trap and electronic music.
It is noteworthy that it was the second disc that allowed the young man to make a world tour, which covered not only Spain, but also Brazil, Latin America, Mexico and a number of other territories.
Abraham Mateo today
From 2016 to 2018 the artist managed to release two more successful albums: Are You Ready? and A Camara Lenta. These releases allowed him to securely gain a foothold in already familiar markets - at home and in Latin America. And also enter the US music market.
In particular, from 2017 to 2018. the artist actively collaborated with the "mastodons" of the American scene. Among them were famous rappers: 50 Cent, E-40, Pitbull and others. The musician made several more tours in Western countries. Almost all concerts were held in large halls (from 5 to 10 thousand people).
Today, the musician actively performs in concerts, as well as on television shows and is one of the most popular performers in Spain. At the moment, he is recording a new disc and periodically interests listeners with new singles.
