BiS is a well-known Russian musical group, produced by Konstantin Meladze. This group is a duet, which included Vlad Sokolovsky and Dmitry Bikbaev.
Despite a short creative path (there was only three years - from 2007 to 2010), the BiS group managed to be remembered by the Russian listener, releasing a number of high-profile hits.
Creation of a team. Project "Star Factory"
Vlad and Dima did not know each other when in June 2007 they came to the casting of the new season of the Star Factory television show, which was a project of Konstantin and Valery Meladze.
The casting took place in three rounds, each round - within one month. Therefore, young people during this time managed to get close and become friends, which determined their career in the future.
Both friends joined the project and successfully participated in it for several months. They performed on the same stage, often went out to perform songs together. So, for example, they performed the songs "Dreams", "Theoretically", etc.
The final stage of the season was demonstration performances at the Ostankino television center, where young people also sang joint compositions. Here they also managed to sing on the same stage with Nadezhda Babkina, Victoria Daineko and many other stars.
Therefore, they not only gained the experience of performing on the big stage, but also gradually “grinded” to each other. At the end of the project participation, they often had the idea of continuing to build a career together.
In October, it turned out that Dmitry and Vlad became competitors - they were put in one of the top three participants. Dima dropped out and was forced to leave the TV project. However, less than a month later, Dima returned to the project.
And his return was a big surprise. It turned out that Konstantin Meladze planned to make a pop duet, inviting Vlad and Dima to unite in one team. In November, at one of the final concerts of the season, the BiS group was presented to the public.
Rise of popularity
So, the guys completed their participation in the TV project, leaving it as a formed musical group, which has already received its first recognition. The name "BiS" is explained very simply: "B" - Bikbaev, "C" - Sokolovsky.
Under the leadership of Konstantin Meladze, who became the producer of the group, as well as the author of the music and words of most of the compositions, the first single "Yours or Nobody" was released.
The song immediately topped many charts and stayed at the top for more than one month.
Following the first song, three more were released: "Katya" (became one of the group's most memorable hits), "Ships", "Emptiness". All songs were warmly received by the public, each has its own video clip. The group quickly gained all-Russian popularity.
For unknown reasons, the release of new songs was accompanied by a rather long break. For example, the songs "Yours or Nobody", "Katya" were released in 2008.
Many were waiting for the release of the debut album immediately after the first singles, but it was released only in 2009, after the release of the song "Ships".
The long-awaited album was called "Bipolar World", which symbolized their duet. The album's sales exceeded 100 thousand, and several songs from the album stayed for a long time in all the country's music charts.
With this release and songs from it, the BiS group received many prestigious music awards. They received the Golden Gramophone award, a victory at the Song of the Year festival. In 2009, they became the winners of the annual Muz-TV channel award in the Best Pop Group nomination. Their competitors were the groups "VIA Gra", "Silver", etc.
Decay of the group
The team has gained incredible popularity. All fans were waiting for the second album from the duo. Dmitry and Vlad announced a kind of "bomb" in the summer of 2010. Many fans have decided that this is a new release of the group.
However, it turned out quite differently. On June 1, 2010, the first solo performance of Vlad Sokolovsky (since the time of the Star Factory show) took place as part of the Channel One project. At the concert, Vlad performed his new solo composition "Night Neon".
Three days later (June 4), he announced that the group ceased to exist. Vlad announced the beginning of a solo career. And three days later, this information was officially confirmed by the producer of the group.
Group "BiS" today
Each participant went his own way. Vlad Sokolovsky continues to perform solo. To date, he has released three of his own albums, which are relatively popular. The last album "Real" was released in 2019.
Dmitry Bikbaev, immediately after the collapse of the BiS group, assembled another 4POST group. She was presented to the public three months after the official announcement that the duet with Sokolovsky was no more.
The 4POST team was radically different from the BiS group and performed pop-rock music until 2016, after which it was renamed APOSTOL and completely changed its style. To date, the group rarely releases individual songs without presenting the public with a full album.
Given that Sokolovsky is more actively releasing new songs and discs (which sometimes receive various music awards), we can conclude that his career outside the BiS group has developed a little more successfully.
