Chynna's early life

Chinna was born on August 19, 1994 in the American city of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia). Here she attended the Julia R. Masterman School. After receiving secondary education, the girl decided not to continue her studies and devoted herself entirely to music.

The performer always wanted to connect her life with the media, so she has been modeling since adolescence. At the age of 14, she managed to sign a contract with the Ford Modeling Agency, a popular modeling agency in America.

According to the artist, the modeling school helped her reveal her femininity. In 2015, Chynna performed at New York Fashion Week. She participated in the spring campaign for DKNY, which was covered by Vogue and Elle magazines.

In an interview, she said: “It’s just that I’ve never been interested in rapping about how beautiful my appearance is. It always seemed to me that this was the limit of reach and there was more to talk about. Since I have experience in modeling, I don't need to express my femininity in songs. I can just focus on my feelings and treat the music better than the diary."

The beginning of a musical career

When the artist became seriously interested in music, modeling was already in the background. She spent most of her time as a teenager in music studios. She recorded the first tracks and aspired to become at least a behind-the-scenes player in this area.

Around the age of 15, Rogers met Steven Rodriguez. In the musical field, he is better known under the pseudonym A$AP Yams. The girl shared her memories of the first meeting in Rodriguez with the press: “Then I didn’t know the word“ trainee ”. I told him something like: “Do you want me to accompany you everywhere and help with tasks?”.

Without thinking twice, Yams took her under his wing and became a mentor to the aspiring performer. The young artist was very happy, because Rogers helped to become popular rappers ASAP Rocky and ASAP Ferg. Thanks to her friendship with Stephen, she was able to join the ASAP Mob group. Now the team is considered one of the most influential teams of its generation.

Sadly, the music producer tragically died in 2015 due to an accidental drug overdose. In an interview with various publications, Chynna repeatedly said that she could not come to terms with the death of her mentor. It was he who invited her to develop a solo career and supported her in all endeavors.

Earliest online hits by Chynna Selfie (2013) and Glen Coco (2014). The magnetic charisma of the girl was heard in the music, so the compositions immediately received excellent reviews among the listeners. The works were also appreciated by the popular performer Chris Brown.

Popularity

Having received the first recognition on the Internet, Chynna began to write albums. The artist released her first EP titled I'm Not Here, This Isn't Happening (2015). It includes 8 tracks. The second mini-album Music 2 die 2 was released in 2016. In the same year, the performer participated in the South By South West music festival. She performed with the ASAP Mob team.

The main feature of her songs is honesty and openness to the audience. The performer was not afraid to write about her drug addiction, despair and talk about death. This is how she attracted her fans. Rogers has described her tracks as "for angry people with too much pride" to show how angry they are.

Then the artist released her latest EP, which she called In Case I Die First (2019). Translated from English, this means "In case I die first." The musician was supposed to go on a US tour with him in 2020. However, she passed away four months after the release.

Drug problems and Chynna's death

The rap artist has never hidden her drug addiction problems. Chynna used them for 2-3 years. It seemed to the girl that she went through a little hardship to earn her career. The artist wanted to be closer to even more people. It was not only about drug addiction, but also about behavior.

In an interview, Chynna talked about quitting drugs in 2017. The girl at some point admitted that she had no control over the situation. She stopped enjoying the substances and she took them to relax.

In 2016, the musician went to rehabilitation, after which she did not use drugs for about two years. On her 22nd birthday, the singer released the album Ninety. The songs were filled with the darkest truths. "Demons are dancing on me like I can feel it, it's hard to believe I've been clean for 90 days," she rhymed vaguely on Untitled.

A year after leaving the rehabilitation center, Chynna's mother died. Wendy Payne was 51 years old. At that moment, the girl could easily start using drugs again, but she refused. “My mom would be really upset if I used her as an excuse to start using again,” she said in an interview. “It’s just another reason to work on yourself and become stronger.”
