Dadi & Gagnamagnid are an Icelandic band that in 2021 had a unique opportunity to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest. Today, we can say with confidence that the team is at the peak of popularity.
Dadi Freyr Petursson (team leader) led the whole team to success for several years. The team quite often delighted fans with the release of clips and new singles. We can say with confidence that from 2021 the guys will increase the number of new tracks.
History of creation and composition of the group
At the origins of the team is the talented Dadi Freyr Petursson. He is also known to music lovers under the pseudonym Dadi Freyr and Dadi. Today it is hard to imagine Daði & Gagnamagnið without him.
In early childhood, he mastered playing several musical instruments at once. He skillfully played the piano and drums. At the end of 2010, on the territory of Berlin, Dadi received an education in the field of music management and sound production.
Dadi's creative start began with the fact that he performed with the RetRoBot group. In 2012, together with the presented team, Dadi won the prestigious Músíktilraunir competition. Success motivated the musician not to give up and clearly move towards a given goal.
Some time later, Dadi received another education. This time, he chose a South Icelandic multicultural educational institution for himself. After that, he "put together" his own team.
For some time, Dadi performed as a solo artist. Rarely did he invite the musicians of the Gagnamagnið band to help. Joint concerts with the presented team resulted in the formation of the Daði & Gagnamagnið team.
In addition to Dadi Freyr himself, the team included:

Dadi & Gagnamagnid: Creative way
In this line-up, the guys showed up at the Söngvakeppnin competition. Is This Love? applied for participation in the international song contest back in 2017. This time the guys failed to fully express themselves. They didn't make it through the qualifying round.
Despite the fact that their application for participation in the competition was rejected - the team set itself the goal of sooner or later to perform at the European music competition. In 2020, they reapplied. Especially for Eurovision, the musicians composed a piece of music Think about Things.
The musicians managed to get the right to represent Iceland at Eurovision 2020. The members of the group could not believe their happiness. Later it turned out that due to the situation in the world caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the musical event had to be canceled for a year. At the end of 2020, it was revealed that the group would finally go to Eurovision in 2021.

On the eve of the rehearsal of the second semi-final show, it turned out that Johanna Sigurdura Johannsson had contracted a coronavirus infection. Thus, the team could not perform in the Eurovision final. Instead, a recording of one of the group's rehearsals was shown in the semi-finals.
According to the voting results on May 22, 2021, it became known that the Icelandic team took fourth place. In the same year, the guys announced the tour, which starts in 2022. The tour will take place in the United States of America.
