In the tracks of the band you can hear various genres. But mostly the guys create music in the style of punk rock and indie rock. The soloists of the group are sure that they are creating a "timid punk".

The history of the creation and composition of the group Give a tank (!)

The "Give me a tank (!)" group was created in 2007 in the city of Kolomna, Moscow Region. At the origins of the team are:

  • Dmitry Mozzhukhin;
  • Alexander Romankin.

Dmitry says that music filled his life as a child. During his school years, he repeatedly collected musical groups. Dmitry was fond of electronic music, in addition, he knew how to play the guitar.

The guys rehearsed a lot. What they did motivated Mozzhukhin and Romankin to create experimental records. The duet recorded "work" on a regular voice recorder, calling the recordings a "garage album".

Everyone in the group had their own responsibilities. Dmitry was responsible for vocals, button accordion and guitar. Alexander played the guitar, keyboards and trumpet. The first records dispersed on the hands of friends and acquaintances. The creations of the duet came to a man named Yuri, and he wanted to personally communicate with the musicians. Later it turned out that Yuri was organizing underground concerts. It also helps to record albums on professional equipment.

“Yuri is a cult figure for our small town. He’s just from the old crowd: there are hippies, the system, punks - anyone, ”Dmitry said about his new acquaintance.

Presentation of the band's debut album

The musicians did not have to be persuaded for a long time. The guys accepted Yuri's invitation and ended up in his home recording studio. Soon the discography of the group “Give me a tank (!)” was replenished with the debut album “Time to collect rubble”.

Dmitry admits that he did not have enough experience to "promote" his debut album. The musician said that when the LP was ready, he did not send it to production centers, but placed it on the country's music venues.

“The debut album, unfortunately, went into the void. I did not quite understand that I needed to take some action to promote the record. The first tracks today are known only to true fans of our team…”, comments Dmitry.

After recording the collection, the musicians started acoustic concerts, which took place in a house on Svetlaya Street. This place is considered significant not only for the “Give me a tank (!)” group, but also for the provincial town.

Group members

Mozzhukhin recalls a man under the creative pseudonym Vse Tak (most likely, this is the mysterious man Yuri), who helped organize concerts and record long plays. The musicians admit that the artist, under the creative name Vse Tak, performed with them on stage for some time.

It is known for sure that the third official member of the "Give me a tank (!)" group was Yuri Gaer. During this period of time, musicians were invited to creative evenings that took place on the territory of Moscow.

“All the musical instruments that we used during the concerts were packed in checkered market bags. The guys and I took with us: an accordion, a flute, a metallophone, home-made percussion and drove trains to Moscow museums and taverns, ”said Dmitry Mozzhukhin, frontman of the band.

The musicians did not try to appear the best in front of the Moscow public. The only thing that has improved over time is the sound. Dmitry explains this fact by the fact that his team has become more experienced in music sound settings.

The guys have long sought recognition and popularity. Today “Give me a tank (!)” is one of the most beloved representatives of heavy music in Russia. The concert activity of musicians is mainly directed to St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Today the team consists of 5 people:

  • Dmitry Mozzhukhin;
  • Alexander Timofeev;
  • Viktor Dryzhov;
  • Maxim Alias;
  • Sergey Raen.

Music of the group Give a tank (!)

Since 2011, the musicians have released at least one album a year. The band's discography was opened by the collection "Time to collect rubble". In the creations of Dmitry, one and the same lyrical hero is heard. He suffers from the fact that he cannot come to terms with the realities of modern life. The hero has nothing left to do but accept a difficult fate. There are notes of irony, humor and sarcasm in the texts.

According to Dmitry, his team has no unsuccessful projects. The musician says that if some composition comes out “raw”, then it simply does not get on the air. The most unsuccessful lines in the form of phrases or images fall into other songs. Dmitry has repeatedly said that he is for quality, not quantity.

In 2011, the band's discography was replenished with another disc. We are talking about the collection "An album that does not count." The recording of the disc took place in a Moscow hostel, in the room of Dmitry Mozzhukhin. The musician is sure that when recording a record, only the “stuffing” matters, and not the place.

In the same 2011, Dmitry began work on the collection "Radio Fire". At the same time, the musician had a small idea - not to use full-fledged microphones. He had an MP3 player with a voice recorder. It was recorded on it. The album "Radio Fire" was released in 2016, all the songs on the eve of the presentation were completely redone by him.

Dmitry believes that the Radio Fire album is a solo work. But still, he focuses on the fact that without the musicians of the “Give a tank (!)” group, he would not have been able to record what happened in the end. All the longplays that the group released, Dmitry calls the continuation of the conversation with music lovers. This relationship with the release of each new song became even stronger and warmer.

Creativity of the group today

In music, Dmitry remains out of time. The musician says that for a given period of time he is not ready to follow the trends inspired by society and the world. All the band's albums are restrained, concise and conservative.

The frontman of the group is always looking for a special approach to the works and finds the most original solutions. A striking example of the above words is the disc "On Growth", released in 2018. It was recorded using a children's synthesizer.

The use of children's instruments has become a mandatory attribute of the team. Dmitry admits that he bought a complete package of synthesizers, taking into account the fact that they are constantly broken and lost. The synthesizer, which was bought 7 years ago, can be seen on the latest LP "Give me a tank (!)". The sound of a children's instrument was finalized in a recording studio. For live concerts of the team, the musicians use other arrangements.

In the video clips of the band, the lyrical hero remained unchanged. Instead of his face, Dmitry uses a mask that he painted himself. The frontman of the group made 14 short cartoons as an addition to the clips, so that fans could get to know the lyrical hero in detail.

The band's videography is not as rich as the "fans" would like. The clips for the tracks: “Morning”, “Spam”, “Friend”, “Noise”, “Sparks”, “Funny”, etc. are very popular with fans.

Group Give a tank (!): a period of active creativity

In 2019, the musicians of the Let's Tank (!) band took part in the filming of the Evening Urgant program. After visiting the rating project, the interest of music lovers in the activities of the team increased.

Few people know that, in addition to the development of the team, each participant occupies a particular position. For example, the band's frontman works as a manager in an IT company.

“In order to go headlong into music, we should give up other things and work. I'm not sure how correct this is. If you go into music with your head, you can choke, ”comments Dmitry.

In 2019, the musicians appeared before the fans of their work with a concert. It took place at the GlavClub Green Concert. The event is dedicated to the presentation of the disc "For Growth".

In 2020, the “Give me a tank” team (!) became the guest of the new issue of “Apartment near Margulis”, which was broadcast on the NTV channel on October 17. In the new issue of “Kvartirnik at Margulis”, the group performed the compositions: “Funny”, “Away”, “Morning”. In addition, the guys presented their book with lyrics and chords to Evgeny Margulis.

Fans who want to read the biography of the band's frontman should definitely check out the episode. In the program, Dmitry talked about how he came to create a group, why his parents decided to call him Dima, how it is connected with music.

"Give me a tank" today

At the beginning of April 2021, the discography of the Russian rock band was replenished with a new disc. Longplay was called "Words-parasites". The musicians noted that the disc is experimental in nature. The collection consists of unequal parts in terms of the number of compositions.
