DDT is a Soviet and Russian group that was created in 1980. Yuri Shevchuk remains the founder of the musical group and a permanent member.
The name of the musical group comes from the chemical substance Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane. In the form of a powder, it was used in the fight against harmful insects.
Over the years of the existence of the musical group, the composition has undergone many changes. The kids saw ups and downs. The DDT group is still the vanguard of domestic rock.
Interestingly, the compositions of the musical group are very popular among young people. For example, the song “What is autumn?”, which is still sung and asked to be played on the main radio stations.
The history of the creation and composition of the DDT group
In 1979, Yuri Shevchuk (leader of a small rock band) met Vladimir Sigachev (keyboardist of the band that performed at the Avangard recreation center). Young Yuri Shevchuk joined the musical group and performed at the Avangard Palace of Culture.
Initially, the DDT rock group included: Yuri Shevchuk, Rustem Asanbaev, Gennady Rodin, Vladimir Sigachev and Rinat Shamsutdinov. Then young people were not yet united under the sonorous name "DDT". But they really wanted to gain popularity and get on the big stage.
A little later, the leader of the rock band, Yuri Shevchuk, moved to the capital of Russia. And he decided to change the composition of the group. Yuri Shevchuk teamed up with Igor Dotsenko. Gradually, the team began to expand. And the composition included new members: Kurylev, Vasiliev, Muratov, Chernov and Zaitsev. Music critics later called this line-up progressive and "golden".
During the existence of the musical group, the composition has constantly changed. The permanent member of the Russian rock band was and remains Yuri Shevchuk. Thanks to the perseverance of the leader of the musical group, the DDT group is now known far beyond the borders of the Russian Federation.
Yuri Shevchuk: the beginning of a musical career
In 1982, the Russian group "DDT" decided to take part in the competition of the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda". The leader of the group spent a long time choosing which works to send to the judges. Yuri Shevchuk chose the musical composition "Don't Shoot!", which later became a laureate of the Golden Tuning Fork festival.
After the victory of the leader of the rock group, Shevchuk was invited to Moscow to the Melodiya studio to record the song "Don't shoot." However, Yuri, after consulting with the rest of the members of the musical group, refused this offer.
Yuri did not want to perform songs by Soviet composers. After that, the popularity of the DDT group decreased significantly.
The guys decided to stay in their hometown of Ufa. In the same place, the team managed to record several albums: “Alien” and “Pig on the Rainbow”. After these works, the group did not become popular. Moreover, most of the tracks included in these records were perceived by music lovers very coldly.
Thanks to the third album, which the DDT group recorded with the Rock September group, the musicians became popular. The powerful sound of voices and interesting presentation of texts did not leave rock fans indifferent.
Then the group "DDT" released the fourth album "Periphery". Together with the long-awaited popularity, Yuri Shevchuk was invited to a conversation at the KGB. There, with representatives of the KGB, Yuri Shevchuk was given to understand that he had no right to speak with his work abroad. He was also advised to abandon the development and further participation in the rock band.
In the following years, journalists, presenters and the yellow press persecuted the rock band. Until 1986, the DDT group was persecuted by the KGB. But one way or another, the Russian rock band did not stop delighting listeners with their work.
The beginning of the star path of the DDT group
Star Trek for the musical group began when Yuri Shevchuk moved to the capital of Russia. On the territory of Leningrad, rock bands were given the opportunity to "freely" breathe. There were official rock clubs that gave the opportunity to record CDs and perform concerts.
At that time, the DDT group, in its popularity, bordered on such Russian rock bands asCinema" and "Aquarium».
In 1987, “the team released one of their best works. The album "I got this role" sold a significant circulation. The Russian rock band has become very popular.
The musicians began to give their first performances. The army of fans expanded every day. During this period, the group performed not only in Russia and the USSR, but also abroad.
In 1992, the rock group released the album "Actress Spring". According to music critics, this album contains the best hits: "Rain", "Motherland", "Temple", "In the Last Autumn", "What is Autumn?".
The appearance of lyrics in the work of the group
This disc was a turning point for the musical group. The fact is that Yuri Shevchuk abandoned political and social topics. The tracks that were included in the album "Actress Spring" were lyrical.
After the release of the album "Actress Spring", the musicians went on tour. Within one year, the DDT group performed more than 12 concerts with the Black Dog Petersburg program. And in 1993, Shevchuk was recognized as the best rock performer. The group gained long-awaited fame.
A year later, the musicians presented another album. He received a very extraordinary name "That's all ...". Yury Shevchuk very often ended his performances with a song from this album. The hits of the record were the tracks: "White River", "Wind", "Four Windows".
From 1996 to 2000 the group released albums: "Love", "Born in the USSR", "World Number Zero", "August Snowstorm". At the end of 2000, the composition of the rock group underwent some changes. And in the musical compositions of the Russian group, electronic components were heard.
In 2005, the DDT group presented another album, Missing. And in support of the new collection, the guys went on a big tour of the cities of the Russian Federation. Rock band celebrated 25 years.
Despite criticism from experts, the albums released in the period of 2010, "Otherwise" and "Transparent" were very popular among fans of Russian rock.
Support from fans motivated Yuri Shevchuk to record the album "Otherwise", which was presented in 2011.
DDT Group now
It seems that the leaders of the Russian rock band are working tirelessly. The musicians presented an album with the original title "Galya walk" (2018). This album includes unreleased and new works by Yuri Shevchuk.
After the presentation of the album, the DDT group went to a concert with the History of Sound program. According to the leader of the group, the program included songs reflecting the history of Russia in recent years.
DDT Group in 2021
At the end of April 2021, the DDT team pleased the fans of their work with the release of a new single. We are talking about the musical composition "In bed".
The band's frontman said that he composed the piece of music a couple of years ago while relaxing in the countryside. At the same time, the band's musicians tried to record a track, but the result of the work done did not satisfy them.
At the end of May 2021, the Russian band DDT presented a video for the musical composition "Borshchevik". In the video clip, the band members appeared against the backdrop of a landfill. In addition, the video shows the "garbage picnic" scene. The frontman of the group noted that when watching the video clip, everyone will surely understand the meaning of the work.
At the end of the first summer month, "DDT" pleased the fans of their work with the release of a video for the track "Shadow on the Wall". The video lasts as long as 8 minutes, which allowed the audience to get acquainted with the storyline of the video in detail. The work was directed by Timofey Zhalnin. At the end of October 2021, the premiere of the full-length LP of the DDT group took place. "Creativity in the Void" is the work that fans have been waiting for a very long time. The album contains 12 tracks. Recall that the funds for this collection were collected on a crowdfunding platform.
