The group has long outgrown the peak of popularity. Today, the artists' music is only of interest to those fans who listened to the band's tracks in the 1990s.

For the most part, the musicians toured Russia, appeared at music festivals (a la the 1990s) and occasionally rejoiced with old songs in a new way.

The history of the creation and composition of the Dune group

Hearing humorous, without a deep philosophical meaning, the tracks of the group "Dune", it is difficult to imagine that the musicians began their career with hard rock. The genre was popular in the 1980s, so the band's lead singer decided not to risk it with other styles.

The first composition of the musical group "Dune" included: Dima Chetvergov (musician was responsible for the guitar), Sergey Katin (bass guitar), Andrey Shatunovsky (percussion instruments) and vocalist Andrey Rubley.

Interestingly, the daughter of Sergei Katin, becoming a teenager, also decided to follow in the footsteps of her father. Ekaterina Katina entered the main and main composition of the scandalous musical group Tatu.

Group soloists Viktor Rybin often called the director of the Dune collective. This is absolutely unsubstantiated information. Victor has never been a director. What a man can boast of is that he has remained a permanent vocalist for many years.

So, the group began its journey with hard rock. And the fact that this direction did not arouse interest among music lovers, young people immediately understood. In 1988, the musicians decided to change their repertoire.

Victor Rybin and Sergey Katin decided to leave rock for light electronic sound. Shatunovsky, Rublev and Chetvergov decided to leave the musical group. Rybin and Katin "float" on the waves of music alone.

Over the years of the existence of the Dune group, its composition has constantly changed. Only Viktor Rybin remained a permanent soloist. By the way, music critics believed that it was Victor who kept the group's popularity.

A man of small stature, with great charm and a stupid expression on his face, like a magnet, attracted fans to him.

The further path and the music of the group

After the soloists of the group "Dune" decided on the musical style of the group, Katin wrote, without exaggeration, the most popular track of the group "Country Limoniya".

“Country of Limonia” is a humorous and satirical composition in which the author unpretentiously showed what is happening in his native country. Lemon, of course, is a million rubles that instantly depreciated, and "Limonia" is a "fat" allusion to "Sovdepiya" (Soviet Union).

In the late 1980s, Katin, without consulting with the rest of the group, sold the song to Larisa Dolina. In the TV show "Musical Ring", the performer sang a track in a rock arrangement.

After the latest events, the Dune group re-recorded the song Limonia. However, now the song sounded different, because the balalaika audio sequence appeared in it. Viktor Rybin admitted in an interview that until the end of the 1990s he had a tense relationship with the Valley.

After the track got into the rotation of the Musical Elevator program, it won the status of a real folk song. According to the soloists of the group, the next year they sang exclusively the song "Limonia Country".

The spring of 1990 was successful for the team of the Dune group. The team members were invited to close the Soundtrack festival. Then a little-known team performed in front of the audience of the Olimpiysky Sports Complex. The guys broke a storm of applause.

TV censorship

TV was not as smooth as it should be. Video clips and performances of the guys were not allowed on the “TV” due to censorship. For the first time, the group's video clips were released on the 2 x 2 TV channel, known for its non-standard approach.

The performance of the guys was shown on the air, where they sang the song “Drink, Vanya, don’t get sick!”. After the broadcast of the video, the management had problems.

However, there were no more bans, since the USSR collapsed back in 1991. The group "Dune" got to the festival "Song of the Year", then released the first "forty-five" with 8 tracks.

The popularity of the Russian group increased every day. In 1991, the composition "Country of Limonia" was re-recorded on a full-fledged disc. The collection includes 4 more musical compositions.

In 1992, serious changes took place in the musical group. Sergey Katin, unexpectedly for many fans, moved to France.

Viktor Rybin, who had never written texts before, took up the pen - earlier this function was always performed by Sergey. Rybin wrote lyrics for the songs "Machine Gun" and "Borka the Womanizer".

Later, a video clip was shot for the track "Machine Gun". The video clip became one of the most striking works of that period of time: a plasticine video sequence, a completely "crazy" script and a yellow submarine - this mix perfectly characterized the entire "essence" of the group.

Death of Alexander Maleshevsky

1993 was a tragic year for the Dune group. Unexpectedly for many, the most colorful soloist of the group, Alexander Maleshevsky, died. The members of the group were very upset by the loss.

But 1995, on the contrary, pleased the soloists of the group. Sergei Katin returned to Russia, who refused to perform publicly with the group, and was listed in the group as a lyricist.

The return of Katina gave the music lovers the album "In the Big City". The hallmark of the album was the song "Communal Apartment".

In 1996, the group supported Boris Yeltsin, who put forward his candidacy for the post of President of the Russian Federation. Later, Viktor Rybin admitted that he very much regretted this act and would never connect his life with politics again.

To this day, music critics argue in what genre the Dune group worked. Musical style is a subject of controversy for many. In terms of sound and melody, the musical group is a classic representative of pop music. Everything would be fine, but the irony and black humor of the texts are a little confusing.

The band's discography includes 16 albums. The guys were very productive. Interestingly, each disc contained a song that became a "popular hit".

Dune group today

Since 2004, the popularity of the Dune group began to decline. More and more time Viktor Rybin began to devote to the development of his own business. The group joined forces in 2008, but the former popularity was gone.

The last work of the group was the album "Yakut bananas", which was released in 2010. Music critics saw a "creative crisis" and advised the musicians to postpone work on creating new songs.
