History of group creation
Vince Clarke played an important role in the emergence of the group. Since childhood, he was fond of music, he liked to experiment, combine genres and perform.
It was Vince who had a hand in creating the Depeche Mode team. At the end of 1981, he left this group and formed the duo Yazoo. Despite the success, constant disagreements between the team members did not help the musical project to develop actively.
In the past, Clarke had a brief creative duet with Eric Radcliffe, as well as several recordings of unpopular compositions that were "failures".
This caused the artist to submit an ad to the music weekly Melody Maker for a new vocalist.
Andy Bell, who at the time was a shoe salesman and a member of a local band, responded to him. After listening, he was selected among a dozen competitors. So the famous duet appeared.
Erasure's musical legacy
The first two songs released by the band were unsuccessful in England. But the guys did not lose heart, they continued to work on their own development, until the third song Oh L'Amour became popular in Australia, France, and in Germany it entered the top 16 in the music songs chart.
The debut disc, which received the charming title Wonderland, was released in the summer of 1986 and was not popular at home. An interesting situation, but the German public again highly appreciated the work of the Erasure group, putting them on the 20th position of the German hit parade.
Recognition in England came after the release of the song Sometimes. The Circus is the second studio album in the band's arsenal. Immediately upon release, the album went platinum and took a strong position in the UK charts for 12 months. Then five albums became the first in the ranking and stayed there for a long time.
Critics in the field of music were outraged by the sudden ascent of the guys to the creative Olympus. They compared Andy's singing to "the howling of dogs on the wild prairie" in reference to Drama!.

The duo continued touring life until 1997. During the year, the group traveled to all existing continents. Then they took a creative break. Then new compositions pleased the audience not so often. Until 2000, they were not on the creative music scene.
After a three-year silence, an innovative video clip for the song Freedom appeared. The song turned out to be a "failure", the same fate befell the Loveboat album.
For the first decade of the century, the guys provocatively experimented with style and visual content, while releasing releases, compilations and albums.
Then the Ereije group appeared again at the international level in 2011. The longest tour involved visiting Russia and Ukraine. In 2015, to celebrate their 30th anniversary in the music industry, the band presented a modernized version of Sometimes. The audience liked the updated Always album.

For the 35th anniversary of the group, they organized an advertisement for a new record, in which the Wild album became an extended version on two discs.
Now Vince Clarke and his wife Tracy live in Brooklyn. The artist has equipped a recording studio in his private mansion, where there is a collection of synthesizers.
