Musical style of Josh Groban

There are several different opinions about the style in which the singer creates his creations. Some critics consider it to be pop music, while others call it a classic crossover. Classic crossover is a combination of many styles such as pop, rock and classic.

The singer prefers the second option when he speaks about the genre in which he writes songs. He explains this by the fact that classical music had a great influence on him as a child. It was with her that his formation as a person took place.

Therefore, the influence of the classics can be heard literally in every song. At the same time, the artist masterfully used the tools and technologies of modern pop music. With this combination, he deserved such appreciation from the audience.

The beginning of the creative path of Josh Groban

The singer was born on February 27, 1981 in Los Angeles (California). While still a student, the boy actively attended classes in theater circles. In high school, he began to take vocal lessons additionally.

It was his teacher who contributed to the first success of the young man. He gave the recording of the boy (on which Josh performed the aria All I Ask of You from the musical The Phantom of the Opera) to producer David Foster.

Foster was surprised by the talent of the young talent and decided to collaborate with the aspiring musician. The first result was the boy's performance at the inauguration of California Governor Gray Davis.

And two years later (in 2000), with the help of Foster Josh, he was signed to the Warner Bros. music label. records.

David Foster established himself as the young man's producer and helped him record Josh Groban's first solo disc. It was the producer who insisted on paying attention to classical music.

The album had not yet been released by the time when Sarah Brightman (a famous singer who worked at the intersection of pop and classical genres) invited the rising star to go on a big tour with her. So the first major concerts with the participation of Josh were held.

Before the release of the solo disc, in 2001, the singer became a member of a number of television shows and charity events. On one of them, the musician was noticed by producer David E. Kelly, who, impressed by Josh's performance of solo songs, even came up with a role for him in his TV series Ally McBeal.

The role, although not the main one, was liked by the American audience (largely due to the song You're Still You performed in the series), so Josh's character repeatedly returned to the screens in subsequent seasons.

The new album was called Closer and was certified platinum 5 times at once. It is recorded in the spirit of the first disc, however, according to Groban himself, "it reveals the inner world better."

It also contains classic songs (eg Caruso) that are on the same track list as modern hits (a cover version of Linkin Park's You Raise Me Up).

In 2004, two soundtracks for world-famous films were released at once: Troy and The Polar Express. These songs made the artist famous far beyond the United States. There was an opportunity to organize a world tour.

The next four albums (Awake, Noel, A Collection Illuminations and All That Echoes) took the lead in sales in the US and Europe in the very first weeks after their release.

In parallel, recordings of his concerts were released, which were actively released on DVD and online platforms.
