Natalia Dzenkiv, who today is better known under the pseudonym Lama, was born on December 14, 1975 in Ivano-Frankivsk. The girl's parents were artists of the Hutsul song and dance ensemble.
The mother of the future star worked as a dancer, and her father played the cymbals. The ensemble of parents was very popular, so they toured a lot. The upbringing of the girl was mainly engaged in her grandmother. And in those days when parents took their daughter with them, she saw the stars of our country.
The beginning of the career of the singer Lama
Mom wanted her daughter to do ballet, but the girl did not immediately work out with this type of art. Then there were ballroom dancing, but it didn’t work out here either.
Natasha wanted to compose music and give concerts. Therefore, she entered the music school in the piano class.
Immediately after that, she was visiting relatives in Germany. They invited Natalia to a concert by the Bon Jovi group, which was touring in the city where relatives lived. This concert was a turning point in the girl's life. It was after him that she decided that she wanted to become a real musician and collect stadiums.
The girl diligently studied the technique of playing the piano and music theory. In the third year of the music school, Natalya, together with her friend, created the duet "Magic". The girls wrote the song and recorded it on professional equipment. The disc was handed over to radio DJ Vitaly Telezin. He listened to the track and was pleased. The song was broadcast on the radio station.
Success motivated to new achievements. The first album of the Magic group was called Light and Shadow. The record received a resounding success in Western Ukraine. The duet was invited to various festivals. But gradually it became clear that it was impossible to develop in this format. The team ceased its activities, and Natalia moved to Kyiv to her friend Vitaly.
She continued to write songs, but did not publish them. If in the duet "Magic" the future star was responsible only for the musical component, now she has learned to work with the word, she wrote the texts for her works herself.
The idea of creating a new project came to Natalia in a dream. She saw a Tibetan monk shouting, "Lama, lama...". The name was ready, it remains to adapt the material. After “digging” in the table, the future star chose some of her best compositions and began to work on them.
The difficulty was with the selection of musicians for the group. At first, Lama performed on her own, but she immediately decided that the new project would be created precisely as a group. The first song that was popular was "I need it."
The video clip for it was filmed in Berlin. The hit immediately began to play on all Ukrainian radio stations. The band's debut album was named after the title track "I Need It So". The disc was released in huge circulation and was quickly sold out by fans.
In the treasury of awards, the Lama group has the Best Ukrainian Act award from the MTV Europe Music Awards. The second album was called "Light and Shadow", which is a reference to the early work of the singer.
The title song from the disc “Know how it hurts” became the soundtrack to the film “Sapho”, filmed by Ukrainian and American television people. One of the fans of the singer's talent gave her a star, calling her name.
In her life, the artist pays great attention to religion. She is a Hindu and often has a bindi mark on her forehead. The girl regularly participates in Krishna rituals.
She believes that Eastern philosophy was able to make her who she is. But the singer does not refuse Christianity either. She believes that God exists alone, but is called by different names.
The singer loves to rest in the mountains, where she gets the necessary boost of energy. Hutsul, Slavic and oriental motifs can be found in her work.
The girl has not eaten meat for over 15 years. She came to the conviction not to eat animals through the religion of the East. She adheres to the principles of lacto-vegetarianism in her diet. Thanks to this diet, Natalia looks great, which is why one day a curious incident happened to her.
At the Turkish airport, the border guards could not believe that the girl was 42 years old and tried to detain her to check her documents. But the other passengers of the flight recognized the singer and began to take selfies with her. The border guards realized their mistake and missed the star.
The third album of the Lama band was called "Trimai". Then the singer made a slight pause in her career. She rested, gained strength and was again ready to delight her fans with creativity.

Thanks to her beautiful appearance and artistry, Lama today is not only a singer, but also an actress. Last year, she starred in the Christmas fairy tale Only a Miracle.
The film tells about the adventures of a young man Severin and his sister sister Anika, who need to help their sick father.
All actions take place in a frozen village. Dzenkiv played the Snow Queen. One of the compositions of the soundtrack of this film is the song of the Lama group “Privit, privit”.
