Laura Marti is a singer, composer, lyricist, teacher. She never tires of expressing her love for everything Ukrainian. The artist calls herself a singer with Armenian roots and a Brazilian heart.
She is one of the brightest representatives of jazz in Ukraine. Laura appeared at unrealistically cool world venues like Leopolis Jazz Fest. She was lucky to perform on stage with real musical giants. She calls jazz a "niche" genre. Marty is well aware that this kind of music is not for everyone, but this makes him appreciate his audience even more.
“Every genre of music has its own audience. I am convinced that jazz music is far from being for everyone. It is even customary to say that this is elite music for the elite. And what is elitist is rarely mass. In jazz, there is nothing that modern stars love so much - hype. Everything is built solely on music, ”Marty said in one of her interviews.
Childhood and youth of Laura Martirosyan
The artist's date of birth is July 17, 1987. She was born on the territory of Kharkov (Ukraine). Laura is a child from a refugee family. It is also known that her older sister devoted herself to creativity. Christina Marti is a singer, musician, author of music and lyrics.
When Laura was only one month old, her mother moved her daughter to Kirovobada (the name of the Tajik city of Panj from 1936 to 1963). But a year later, the family again moved to Kharkov.
At the end of the 80s, the family went on vacation to the territory of Azerbaijan. Just at that time, the Sumgayit pogroms began in the country. Things went too far after the attack was made on the home of Laura's family. The family was saved from death by the well-planned actions of their uncle and sister. The family managed to return intact to Ukraine.
Education of Laura Marty
She received her secondary education at Kharkov Specialized School No. 17. But, music still occupied the main place in the girl's life. She successfully received her musical education at the music school No. 1 of L. Beethoven in the piano class.
In the house of a large family, Armenian songs were often heard, which were skillfully performed by Grandma Marty. Laura's mother often staged classical and foreign pop music. The girl loved to listen to songs Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour, Joe Dassin.
Not without participation in various competitions and musical ensembles. Laura sang in the children's choir "Spring Voices" under the direction of Sergei Nikolaevich Prokopov. Together with the choir, Martirosyan toured a lot not only on the territory of Ukraine. She was lucky enough to visit Poland as well.
Music is not Laura's only hobby. Since 1998, she has been practicing ballroom dancing, taking part in competitions and often winning prizes. Marty was involved in breakdancing and modern dance.
Martirosyan devoted 5 years to teaching composition in the class of the composer Ptushkin. Laura received her education at the B. N. Lyatoshinsky Music College.
For higher education, she went to the capital of Ukraine. Kiev Institute of Music named after R. M. Glier greeted Laura with joy. Then an impressive number of master classes awaited her under the guidance of the Polish jazz performer Marek Balata, Vadim Neselovsky, Seth Riggs, Misha Tsiganov and Denis De Rose. In 2018 she graduated from Estill Voice Training in Vienna.
The creative path of Laura Marty
At the age of 20, the artist gathered the first musical group. Laura's brainchild was named Lela Brasil Project. Together with the rest of the group, she sang Brazilian music.
Around this period of time, Marty begins to work closely with Natalia Lebedeva (arranger, composer, teacher). With Natalia and Christina Marti (sister) a few years later, Laura created a project based on the works of famous composers. The team's repertoire included the author's tracks of the sisters. The artists performed under the pseudonym Laura & Kristina Marti. Together with the project, several full-length LPs were released. Note that there is also the Laura Marti Quartet project, in which, as you might guess, Laura is listed.
Then she performed at the Leopolis Jazz Fest site with the famous composer Lars Danielsson. Laura specially composed the text in Ukrainian for his musical work.
In the same year, Laura and Katya Chilly pleased with the release of the joint track "Ptashina Prayer". The artists dedicated the composition to the events of the Revolution of Dignity.

2018 was marked by the release of unrealistically cool work. Longplay Shine was warmly welcomed not only by numerous fans, but also by music experts. The cover for the collection was designed by artist and writer Irina Kabysh.
“My album is about the light that comes from within. If you find that very light in yourself, it is important to share it. In this case, you will become a truly happy person. You will not lose your professionalism. It just gets the right ground…”, commented Laura Marty on the release of the album.
In 2019, she presented a special LP. We are talking about the disc "Everything will be kind!". The collection was headed by tracks in Ukrainian. “I make music in Ukraine, and it’s normal to communicate with the public in their native language,” says the artist. "Everything will be good!" - a cool mix of pop, pop rock, soul and funk.
A year later, she presented the project of the 3-D show "SHINE" at the theater on Podil. By the way, Laura was the first to bring the Estill Voice Training vocal school to the country, and it happened in 2020.
Then she presented a composition called Save My Life. The artist emphasized that her new work is a call to help each other more, to bring goodness and love.
