The flutist's date of birth is April 24, 1982. Maria was brought up in a traditionally intelligent family. In childhood, the girl was interested in classical works. Maria studied well at a comprehensive school, delighting her parents with excellent academic performance.

After graduation, she faced a difficult choice. Parents insisted on getting a serious profession, but Kolesnikova made the decision on her own. She entered the State Academy of Music, choosing the specialty "conductor and flutist" for herself.

What was Mary's surprise when it turned out that only representatives of the stronger sex were studying on her course. Most likely, it was then that the “seed” of a feminist mood began to germinate in her soul. According to Kolesnikova, it was incredibly difficult for her to "get along" in the men's team. She participated in any political discussions that took place in the family or among friends. In addition, Maria participated in protest actions until the moment she left for Germany.
