Metal Scent firmly believes that heavy metal can be played even in the promised land.
The team was founded in 2004 in Israel and began to frighten orthodox believers with a heavy sound and song themes that are rare for their country.
Of course, there are bands in Israel that play in a similar style. The musicians themselves in one of the interviews said that there are three such groups, including the Metal Scent group.
Although there are groups that play even heavier music, the lyrics are based on the mythology and religion of their country.
But Metal Scent decided not to tempt fate and began to play music at the intersection of hard rock and heavy metal. The classics of the genre helped the group gain recognition and acquire their own "fans".
But at first the band did not have material for their own songs. The team started as a cover band that covered the songs of famous representatives of the heavy scene.
Early career of Metal Scent
Deciding to slightly change the direction of development, the band recorded their debut album in the Mizrachi style - this is an analogue of our chanson. But the guys approached the sound in an interesting way and made it hard.
Guitar riffs, drums and heavy bass made it possible to make something unusual out of recognizable melodies. But the most surprising thing is that singers were invited to the vocals, who sang light versions of these songs.
The unusual approach of Metal Scent to the repertoire immediately made the group mega-popular in Israel. The album was a box office success, and the team began to be invited to television and the main concert venues in Israel.
But after a while, interest in the team began to disappear. The guys decided to invite a permanent vocalist to the group and come up with their own material. While Metal Scent was playing heavy chanson, the guys were already coming up with new riffs and melodies.
There was enough material to create a concert program. It was immediately decided to sing in English, which allowed the group to cover many music markets.
The first concert program of the renewed Metal Scent group consisted of 11 songs. Six of them were self-composed, and the remaining five were cover versions of world hits, covered in the manner characteristic of the group.
The guys began to tour not only in their own country, but also abroad. The "breakthrough" took place in 2007, when the band's manager Uriah Heep saw the band's recordings and asked to play "as an opening act" for his band.
Thus, the "fans" of the Uriah Heep group learned about Metal Scent, many of whom warmly welcomed the band.
The label Crash Music signed a contract with the band. The group had to write songs for two months. Classic hits from the 1960s were selected. The guys created a unique arrangement. Songs have found a "second life".
Continuation of the creative path of the Metal Center group
The group's third album, Homemade, was released in autumn 2011. The disc includes 12 songs and several bonus tracks. The album cemented Metal Scent's title as Israel's top heavy metal band.
The success of the record was made possible thanks to the compositional talent of the band's drummer Ronny Zee. The musician knows a lot about music, his game was praised by the famous and terrible Ozzy Osbourne himself.
It is worth noting the vocal data of Rami Salmon. Critics compare his voice to those of David Coverdale and Klaus Meine. Salmon looks like a classic 1970s-1980s rocker on stage.
In their songs, the guys touch on the theme of biker romance, unrequited love, just revenge, etc. Someone will say that such lyrics are already outdated? But metal concerts still attract a significant amount of the public.
And if we take into account that professional performance and powerful vocals are added to the corresponding texts, then the principle of Metal Scent's success becomes clear.
The album was recorded at the band's home studio. A tour in support of the Homemade album took place in European countries. The group performed several times at famous rock festivals, where they received prestigious awards.
The Metal Scent team performed at the gathering of Russian bikers "Night Wolves". The concert was attended by the President and Prime Minister of Russia.
Metal Scent today
Now the Metal Scent group continues to work actively, regularly gives concerts and records new compositions. Concerts of the group are always held with significant sold-out and in the same breath.
Often the band shares the same stage with such rock monsters as Deep Purple and Scorpions. Not so long ago, the group took part in a concert in memory of the vocalist of the Cruise group, Alexander Monin.
In 2016 Metal Scent held a concert in Tel Aviv with famous Russian vocalist Artur Berkut. The musicians played several iconic compositions from the repertoire of the Aria group of those times when Arthur sang in it.
The amazing thing about this three-hour show was that the guys had not rehearsed together before. Berkut sang to their accompaniment for the first time.
But after this concert, he invited the guys to work together. Tours of Berkut and Metal Scent took place in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
It can be increasingly found in Russia, where the demand for high-quality metal will never weaken. Therefore, the Metal Scent group regularly gives concerts in the countries of the former union. They value their audience and give 100% at concerts.
The group is not going to stop there. In 2016, they released their fourth album, Rock On The Water, which included 10 songs.
