The immortal hit "So I want to live" gave the "Christmas" team the love of millions of music lovers all over the planet. The biography of the group began in the 1970s.
It was then that the little boy Gennady Seleznev heard a beautiful and melodic song.
Gennady was so imbued with the musical composition that he hummed it for days. Seleznev dreamed that one day he would grow up, enter the big stage and be sure to perform a song for his mother.
The guy did not yet know that his dream of singing on stage would indeed come true soon. After receiving a certificate and higher education at a local university, Seleznev decided to conquer Moscow.
Gennady, with his musical achievements, went to the recording studio of Andrey Nasyrov. It is interesting that all the musical developments of Seleznev were only in his head, the musician did not have any records.
But he came to Nasyrov not alone, but with a guitar, saying that he was ready to demonstrate his musical abilities.
Andrei Nasyrov was pleasantly shocked by the persistence of the young Seleznev. Moreover, he liked the compositions of Gennady. Yes, they liked it so much that he offered to make them in the right level.
This was the beginning of the creation of the musical group "Christmas". The date of birth of the new star fell on January 7, 2008. By chance, Gennady Seleznev turned into a real idol for millions of music lovers.

There is an interesting story behind the band's name. In one of his interviews, Gennady Seleznev answered a journalist's question:
“The name of the group came to my mind by God's command. And the story is banal. For as long as I can remember, I have always sung. Arriving at Nasyrov's studio, I performed my own song "Flowers for Masha".
Nasyrov liked the song, and he offered to “put together” a group. I wonder what happened on Christmas Eve. Hence the name of the group - "Christmas".
Since 2008, the team began to actively rehearse. At the same time, in fact, the soloists of the Christmas group presented the first album, One for You.
The album was officially released in 2010. The collection exceeded all expectations. Lyrical tracks, which were taken for the soul, did not leave indifferent any music lover and fan of chanson.
The debut album impressed music lovers, and made the soloists move on. Subsequently, the group "Christmas" replenished the following albums:
- "Light angel".
- "Under what star."
- "And I believe."
- "To be or not to be".
- "One more day."
Today, the Rozhdestvo group consists of the following soloists: Gennady Seleznev - responsible for vocals, Andrey Nasyrov - guitarist, Sergey Kalinin - drummer, Geliana Mikhailova - vocals, keys.

Naturally, over the years of the group's existence, the composition of the team has changed several times. At various times, the team included: Andrei Otryaskin, Vyacheslav Litvyakov, Sergei Zakharov, Oleg Kobzev, Pavel Voiskov, Lyudmila Naumova, Viktor Boyarintsev, Dmitry Alekhin.
The current composition of music critics is called "gold". Seleznev insisted that everyone who was part of the Rozhdestvo group brought something new and original to it.

Gennady Seleznev is often asked by journalists how the song “So I want to live” appeared. Personal experiences prompted Gennady to write a musical composition. For three years, Seleznev lost three of his closest ones. But most importantly, his mother passed away.
“My mother died of cancer. In the last minutes of my life, I saw in her eyes the desire to live. But the disease was stronger than her. This event prompted me to write the composition.”
Group Christmas today
The musical group continues its creative activity. For the most part, the Rozhdestvo group gives concerts. In 2017, the guys presented a number of video clips: “Do not live with the unloved” and “Pencils”.
In 2019, the group supplemented the videography with the clip “Prick me in the heart”. In 2020, the group has a number of concerts planned, which will be held on the territory of the Russian Federation.
In addition, Gennady Seleznev delighted fans of the group's work with information that in 2020 the band's discography will be replenished with a new album "Bird". On his YouTube page, Gennady posted the single "That, the South, that Magadan."
