First appearance of Spinal Tap

Spinal Tap first appeared in a parody film in 1984 that satirized all the shortcomings of hard rock. This group is a collective image of several groups that can be easily traced in the plot. Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer played the musicians in the video. It was these three guys who later decided to release the group from the film into the light.

This film was broadcast in one of the American programs and was just a comedy. A little later, people began to perceive this film as a documentary, although it never was.

Surprisingly, the group even managed to get to the top of the Billboard. Although the guys deliberately did not create their own team and did not spend much time training.

The Real Story of Spinal Tap

After recording several works and a short break, in 1992 the band got together to record a new album, Break As the Wind. The release of the album was accompanied by an advertisement for a search for a new drummer, who nevertheless managed to be found after some time.

In 2000, the band released their own website, with the song "Back from the Dead" available for download. And in 2001, the group began a series of tours in Los Angeles, Carnegie Hall, New York and Montreal. In 2007, the team participated in actions against global warming, and also released a new song.

2009 marks the band's release of the album "Back of the Dead" and a world tour with The Folksmen. In 2012, it became known that the line-up of the group was once again joining forces for the BBC's Family Tree show.

The history of the band, taken from the film Spinal Tap

According to the script of the film "This is Spinal Tap!" close friends David and Nigel were born in Britain. They maintained a strong friendship from early childhood and soon discovered their common musical tastes and decided to unite, forming the Originals group.

After some time, the guys found out that a group with that name already exists. They began to sort out many other names. And soon they decided to invite a new bass player and drummer to their line-up and began to be called Thamesmen.

After the next tour, the group again constantly changed its name, and now the guys finally decided to stop at Spinal Tap. They also invited keyboardist Denny to their team.

Soon the group released a song that brought tremendous success to the team. The single went gold in the whole of the UK and the band played it all over the Kingdom. However, the group's created album turned out to be less successful and did not bring any success to the guys.

Success and popularity immediately ended when one of the members of the group died in an accident under strange circumstances. In the same year, another member of the team died. Some time later, the new line-up went on tour with incendiary concerts and immediately after it released a new album, Jap Habit. After some time, many guys began to leave the team, guided by their own desires and interests.

Dark streak in the life of the group

A series of troubles for the team began after the group filed a lawsuit against their label demanding the return of royalties. However, the label countersued, claiming that they weren't talented enough.

The band barely stayed on the label until 1977, when their last single "Rock and Roll Creation" became an explosive hit in the US. They immediately signed a new deal with Polymer Records and started working on their new album until their drummer exploded on stage. After some time, the drummer was replaced, the group released a new song and went on a tour of Europe.

This tour for Spinal Tap got off to a bad start. Many large concerts were canceled and the band had to perform on small stages. The release date for "Smell the Glove" has also been pushed back. The public expressed their negative attitude towards his sexually explicit cover.

After this European tour, the band changed several members. Some of the line-up were fired and replaced by other musicians. Some died under strange circumstances, such as a stage fire.

Fictional facts about the band

Despite the fact that the film was about a British rock band, the actors who played the role of musicians are from the United States.

Fans of the band have compiled some interesting Spinal Tap facts based on the mockumentary. So, on the basis of the collected material, it is known that several drummers played in the team. All of them died under very strange and frightening circumstances.
