Splin is a group from St. Petersburg. The main genre of music is rock. The name of this musical group appeared thanks to the poem "Under the Mute", in the lines of which there is the word "spleen". The author of the composition is Sasha Cherny.

The beginning of the creative path of the Splin group  

In 1986 year Alexander Vassiliev (group leader) met a bass player, whose name is Alexander Morozov. Then young people studied at the university. They decided to create the Mitra group, which later became known as Spleen. The very first compositions were recorded by Vasiliev on an ordinary tape recorder, at Morozov's house.

The Mitra group, in addition to two members, also included Oleg Kuvaev and Alexandra Vasilyeva (ex-wife of Alexander Vasilyev). The leader of the group left for the army in 1988. There, the artist began to create songs, which were later included in the album "Dusty Pain".

After Alexander served in the army, he entered the theater institute. In addition to studying, the musician also worked a lot. In 1933, Vasiliev met with Alexander Morozov. Together they got a job at the Buff Theater. There they met pianist Nikolai Rostovsky, and in 1994 they all quit together.

The musical group began to work on the first album. Due to lack of money, the guys had to act in commercials.

On May 27, 1994, the future team of the Spleen group went to a restaurant to celebrate the recording of the album. There, by a lucky chance, he met the guitarist Stas Berezovsky. From this date, the Spleen group officially began to exist.

As a result, the group's first album became very recognizable in St. Petersburg. Some songs began to sound on radio stations. In 1994, the debut performance of the Splin musical group took place in the Zvezda rock club.

New fans appeared after Alexander Vasiliev (the founder of the group), having arrived in Moscow, presented the first video clip for the song "Be My Shadow". The clip began to be rotated on the ORT TV channel.

In the late 1990s, several new collections were released. Among them: "Lantern under the eye" and "Garnet Album". Also, the musical group signed a contract with the ORT Records label.

Soon the Spleen group began to perform big concerts. They were held in Luzhniki (Moscow city) and in the Sports Palace (St. Petersburg city).

Group "Splin" (2000-2012)

The group had a short break, but in 2001 the musicians released their next album, 25th Frame. Then the Splin musical group decided to organize a tour with the Bi-2 group, which took place in 22 cities.

Between 2001 and 2004 there were a significant number of releases. The most memorable was the album "Draft". The album was written by Alexander Vasiliev. All compositions included in this album were composed from 1988 to 2003.

The group never stopped experimenting and looking for their own style. In 2004, the album "Reverse Chronicle of Events" was released. It presented not only familiar, but also unexpected compositions in such genres as hard rock and tactful guitar compositions.

Line-up updates and new band album

A year later, the Spleen group began recording their ninth album, combining this activity with tours in the United States. During the entire existence of the group, a significant number of musicians left it. These are Alexander Morozov, Nikolai Voronov, Stas Berezovsky, Yan Nikolaenko, Nikolai Lysov and Sergey Navetny.

In 2007, the group presented an updated list of members. The musical group presented a new album "Split Personality" in the same year.

The official version of the collection had 17 songs, but it should have been 19. The song "3006" started many concerts. But Alexander Vasiliev said that this composition does not sound good in the recording. And the song "Ark" was not included in the release of the album, as it was unfinished, according to the artists.

In 2009, the musical group took up touring activities. He traveled around the cities of Russia and the CIS, released a new album "Signal from Space".

The album was recorded in 10 days and it took the same amount of time to mix it. On February 7, 2010, a self-made video for the song "Life Flew" appeared on the band's website. Subsequently, she entered the new album of the group.

In the winter of 2012, the leader of the group announced that a new album with songs would be released in the fall of 2012. In 2012, the musical group wrote new poems for compositions and presented them on stage.

Five years of creativity

In the fall of 2013, information appeared that the group was preparing a new album for its listeners. At a concert in 2014, the musicians said that the next album would be called "Resonance" and would be released on March 1.

Later it became known that the collection was decided to be divided into two parts. The second part of the album "Resonance" was released on September 24th. The group immediately decided to do a tour. The concert program consisted of songs that were included in these two albums.

In October 2015, on the waves of the radio station, the group talked about the fact that they were preparing a new album. The collection was released a year later, on September 23, 2016. It is called "The Key to the Closet", it includes 15 songs. The first single, which was included in the album, was called "The Warmth of the Native Body". The song premiered on December 15, 2017.

The album "Oncoming lane" was released in 2018. The collection includes 11 songs. The musical group organized a tour in honor of the release of the new collection. It ended only in April 2019 in cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The group continues to actively engage in music and release their records. In 2019-2020 the premiere of the new album took place.

The current line-up of the group includes: Alexander Vasiliev, Dmitry Kunin, Nikolai Rostovsky, Alexei Meshcheryakov and Vadim Sergeev.

On December 11, 2020, a presentation of a new collection of one of the most popular Russian rock bands Splin took place. Longplay was called "Vira and Maina". The record was topped by 11 tracks.

The band leader calls the new album spontaneous: “Compositions were born incredibly quickly. After the developments, the guys and I immediately sat down and recorded tracks ... ". Vasiliev also noted that the album could have been released earlier if not for quarantine restrictions.

At the beginning of March 2021, the rock band presented a video for the track "Jin" from the LP "Vira and Maina". The idea of ​​creating a video clip belongs to the artist Ksenia Simonova.
