"Tonka" is a unique indie pop band from Ukraine. The trio collaborates with Ivan Dorn's label. The progressive group skillfully combines modern sounding, Ukrainian lyrics and non-trivial experiments.
In 2022, information appeared that the Tonka group took part in the National selection for Eurovision. Already at the end of January we will know the name of the lucky ones who will have a chance to compete for the right to represent Ukraine at the international song contest.
History of creation and composition of the team
Officially, the group gathered in 2018 on the territory of Kyiv (Ukraine). Talented Alyona Karas and Yaroslav Tatarchenko are at the origins of the team. Later Denis Shvets joined them.
Alena came to the team already with an impressive number of fans. The fact is that she was a participant in the eighth season of the rating Ukrainian project “Voice of the Country”.
In 2018, Karas met Yaroslav Tatarchenko, who at that time also had experience in the music industry. He led the MAiAK project.
The musicians outstripped the music lovers with the statement that their music is beautiful, light, modern. The team managed to get to the top on Apple Music and other music platforms.

In 2019, the Ukrainian team presented the debut single "Choboti". The video was directed by Olya Zhurba. The work was favorably received by music lovers. The group was surrounded by the attention of fans. At the same time, the guys said that they spend a lot of time in a recording studio, and will soon please with the release of another cool new product.
The group did not disappoint the expectations of the "fans". For 26 years now, the guys have dropped an atmospheric mini-album, which was called “So Needed”. The collection was topped by only 4 tracks.
“The main idea is complete freedom of thought. We seem to be obsessed with beauty and want to convey our aesthetic vision in everything, including art ... We really want to share our ideas, as well as exchange emotions, with the same extraordinary personalities like us ... ".
On the wave of popularity, the Ukrainian team presents another EP. We are talking about the collection "Taєmna zbroya". The guys noted that the new EP is about internal search, about self-identification, about the cyclical nature of attachments and losses, which form a unique path.

In May 2021, the premiere of the disc "Cry" took place. The collection was mixed on the Masterskaya label by Ivan Dorn. The EP topped just 4 tracks. On May 25, the band released a video for the title song on the Youtube channel. The work was again directed by Olga Zhurba, and the main roles were played by the soloist of the group Alena Karas and comedian Mark Kutsevalov.
