"SOUTH." - Russian rap group, which was formed at the end of the 90s of the last century. These are one of the pioneers of conscious hip-hop in the Russian Federation. The band's name stands for "Southern Thugs".

The history of the creation and composition of the group Yu.G.
The guys who are at the origins of the team are from Moscow. The team was led by 4 members. The group has an interesting history of formation. In 1996 Mef and K.I.T. and several other musicians "put together" a common musical project. Their brainchild was called Ice Brain. After some time, the group broke up, and Mef and K.I.T. continued cooperation by founding a new project.
A year later, the duet meets the founders of the Steel Razor group. The project was led by rappers Mak, Vint and Bad. Together with the guys they record several tracks. We are talking about the compositions "Suicide" and "Steel Razor". Some time later, Bad left the project, as he was forced to repay his debt to his homeland.
The teams began to work closely together. Soon they took part in the Micro'98 festival. On the site, they presented the track "Hip-operatoriya". Despite the bright performance, they do not take a prize.
Close cooperation inspires both teams to join forces. Actually, this is how a new project appears, which was called "Yu.G." The name of the team was suggested by Vint. Interestingly, after a few days after the formation of the team, he went to serve in the army.
At the end of the 90s, the group lost another member - he was also taken to the service. Mak went to pay his debt to his homeland and for a while "scored" on creativity. WHALE. and MF - they try not to lose their “fighting spirit” and as a duet they perform at a thematic fest. What these two did on stage convinced the judges and the audience that they were the best. "SOUTH." as part of two rap artists, I leave the festival as winners.
Approximately in the same period of time, the unique association "Family of Yu.G.a" was born. The association included not only the projects of the participants in Yu.G., but also other novice rap artists. At the same time, "Family Yu.G.a" presents a full-length longplay with the "original" title "Album".
The creative path of the team
In the "zero" fans of the work of Russian rap artists enjoyed the sound of a full-length album. The disc was called "Cheap and cheerful".
At the time of work on the record, Mak and Vint were not yet "free". During the leave, the first rapper found time to record his verses, while Vint returned to the free in 2000, and managed to work hard in a recording studio.

At the same time, rap artists report that they intend to work on another studio album. By the end of the year, the guys recorded 10 tracks. The rappers said they plan to release a new studio album in May 2002. They even shared the name of the new record.
With the advent of May, the release of the album was postponed until the end of the year. A few months later, it became known about the signing of a contract with Respect Production for the release of the second LP, and for the further work of the team on the presented label.
Presentation of the second album
The musicians decided that the quality of the recorded album was lame. They started working on a new studio. Already in 2003, the band's discography was replenished with the second studio album. Longplay has become one of the most perfect collections of domestic hip-hop. Musicians "Yu.G." bathed in glory.
A year later, the Respect Production label released the disc in MP3 format. The collection was topped by the first and second longplay. In 2005, the band's debut album was completely re-recorded on the same label. Updated sound - definitely benefited him. The head of the label wanted to bring musical works to the level of the already popular musicians of the Yu.G. group.
Around the same period of time, the artists performed at the site of the capital's fest. At the same time, several new tracks of the team were presented as part of a television project.
Cases at "Yu.G." went just fine, so when the team left K.I.T. – nobody understood it. In 2007, the rest of the members were taken aback by the fans with information about the breakup of the group.

The life of rappers after the collapse of the musical project

Under the new name, the musicians hold a number of concerts, where they perform the immortal compositions of the Yu.G. Then they tell the "fans" that they are working closely on their debut LP. The artists stir up the interest of the public with the premiere of the songs “Soon 30” and “Couples”.
A few years later, it turned out that Mak left the project. The rap artist took up IT technologies. WHALE. continued to work in the music industry. He realized himself as a beatmaker. The artist collaborated with many domestic bands and rap artists.
Vint and Mef were also not going to leave the stage. They continued to realize themselves as rap artists. The guys started working together on their debut album, and in 2008 they released the first track, which was called "Pro-Za".
A year later, a cool video was premiered on the track "Big City", which was appreciated by fans. The release of the album was delayed indefinitely, as Meth went to jail. He became a participant in a terrible car accident, as a result of which several people died.
Only in 2011 he was released. A couple of years later, the guys presented their debut and only LP "Fire in the Eyes". You can hear many Russian rap artists on guest verses.
As for Vint, he didn't waste any time. While Meth was behind bars, the artist released two solo albums. In 2016 K.I.T. released a collection of remixes. The plastic was headed by the best tracks of the “life” times of the “Yu.G.” team.
On May 15, 2021, Vint's death became known. The veteran of Russian rap suffered from diabetes for a long time.
