Childhood of the Young brothers

Three talented brothers (Angus, Malcolm and George Young) moved with their families to the city of Sydney. In Australia, they were destined to build a musical career. They became one of the most famous brothers in the history of show business.

The first passion for playing the guitar began to show the eldest of the brothers George. He was inspired by the early American and British rock bands. And he dreamed of his own group. And soon he became part of the first Australian rock band The Easybeat, who managed to gain fame outside their homeland. But the sensation in the world of rock music was not made by George, but by the younger brothers Malcolm and Angus.

Create an AC/DC group

The idea of creating a group came from the brothers in 1973, when they were ordinary Australian teenagers. Like-minded people joined the team, with whom Angus and Malcolm made their debut on the local bar scene. The idea for the band's name was suggested by the brothers' sister. She also became the author of the idea of the image of Angus, who began performing in a school uniform.

The AC/DC team began rehearsals, occasionally performing at local taverns. But during the first months, the composition of the new rock band was constantly changing. This did not allow the musicians to start a full-fledged creative process. Stability appeared in the group only a year later, when the charismatic Bon Scott took the place at the microphone stand.

Bon Scott era

With the arrival of a talented vocalist with performance experience, things have improved for AC/DC. The group's first success was a performance on the local television show Countdown. Thanks to the show, the country learned about young musicians.

This allowed the band AC/DC to release a number of albums that have become the epitome of rock and roll in the 1970s. The group was distinguished by simple but catchy rhythms, filled with energetic guitar solos, outrageous appearance and impeccable vocals performed by Bon Scott.

In 1976 AC/DC began touring Europe. And she became on a par with the American and British stars of that period. Also, Australians easily managed to survive the punk rock boom that occurred at the end of the decade. This was facilitated by provocative lyrics, as well as the group's involvement in punk rockers.

Another hallmark was bright performances of a scandalous nature. Musicians allowed themselves the most unexpected antics, some of which led to problems with censorship.

The pinnacle of the Bon Scott era was Highway to Hell. The album cemented AC/DC's worldwide fame. Many of the songs that were included in the record appear on radio stations and television to this day. Thanks to the Highway to Hel compilation, the band reached a height unattainable for other rock bands.

Brian Johnson era

Despite their success, the group had to go through an ordeal. It divided the work of the team into “before” and “after”. We are talking about the tragic death of Bon Scott, who died on February 19, 1980. The reason was the strongest alcohol intoxication, which turned into a fatal outcome.

Bon Scott was one of the brightest vocalists on the planet. And one could assume that dark times would come for the AC / DC group. But everything happened exactly the opposite. In place of Bon, the group invited Brian Johnson, who became the new face of the team.

In the same year, the album Back in Black was released, surpassing the previous bestseller. The record's success testified that AC/DC had made the right choice in bringing Johnson on vocals.

Our days

The band got into trouble in 2014. Then the team left one of the two founders Malcolm Young. The legendary guitarist's health deteriorated markedly, leading to his death on November 18, 2017. Brian Johnson also left the band in 2016. The reason for leaving was developing hearing problems.

Despite this, Angus Young decided to continue the creative activities of the AC / DC group. He recruited vocalist Excel Rose to join the band. (Guns N 'Roses). Fans were skeptical about this decision. After all, Johnson over the years of activity managed to become a symbol of the group.

AC/DC band today

Creativity group AC / DC in recent years raises many questions. On the one hand, the group continues active concert activity, and is also preparing for the release of another studio album. On the other hand, few people believe that without Brian Johnson the team can maintain the same level of quality.

Over the 30 years spent in the group, Brian has become a symbol of the AC / DC group, with whom only the charismatic Angus Young can compete. Whether Excel Rose will cope with the role of the new vocalist, we will only know in the future.

In 2020, the musicians presented the 17th studio legendary studio album Power Up. The collection was released digitally, but it was also available on vinyl. The LP was generally well received by music critics. He took an honorable 21st position in the country chart.
