The history of the creation and composition of the AnnenMayKanterite group
At the origins of the creation of the team are three members - Annen, May and Canterite. The future members of the group attended one educational institution - the Schiller gymnasium. The young guys were united by a love of heavy music. Like most teenagers, the trio dreamed very globally and on a large scale. Even then, they were thinking of “putting together” their own project, which would win the hearts of millions of fans around the world.
Christopher Annen is the oldest member of the group. The young man was born at the end of the last summer month of 1990. In the group, he is listed as a guitarist, but Christopher plays several other musical instruments. The youngest, bass player Malte Hook, joined the band in 2014.
Drummer Severin Canterite and Henning May were born in 1992. May is a real storehouse of talent. The artist has not only strong vocal abilities, but also a sensitive ear. He easily mastered playing the guitar, accordion, piano, ukulele. Fans nicknamed him "holiday man". At some performances of the group there is another member - Ferdinand Schwartz.
The artists started by rehearsing a lot. The official date for the creation of the musical project was 2011. The rehearsals turned into the fact that the musicians began to "sawing" videos on a popular video hosting. Slowly, from "street musicians" they grew into professional artists.
For this period of time, the team with enviable regularity releases tracks that occupy the top lines of the charts. In 2017, the band's musical work was first performed in a film. One of the team's tracks became the musical accompaniment of the series "Tatort".
The creative path of the group AnnenMayKantereit
The team tries not to go beyond the musical genre of indie rock. The tracks and melodies of the group are saturated with melancholy and depressive notes. One thing is definitely not taken away from them - melody and an excellent sense of rhythm.
In 2013, the debut album of the musicians was released. The collection was warmly received by fans of indie rock. A couple of years later, a mini-LP was released, which was called Wird schon irgendwie gehen. The compilation was topped by only 5 tracks.
On the wave of popularity, AnnenMayKantereit released the album Alles Nix Konkretes, which already consisted of 12 tracks. Almost every release of the record was celebrated by musicians with concerts.
Further, their discography was replenished with the disc Schlagschatten. Note that this is one of the band's most successful albums. The fact that the group has repeatedly held prestigious awards deserves special attention.
In 2015, the artists received two prestigious awards at once - Kulturpreis der Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland and Deutscher Webvideopreis in the Music Video category.
A year later, the musicians were awarded the Goldene Kamera Digital Award in the "MusicAct" nomination. The guys received a well-deserved award, because they managed to "blind" a serious group from themselves. Prior to this, they were thought of as "street, unpromising musicians."
In 2017, they held the ECHO award as they were the best in two categories: BAND POP NATIONAL and NEWCOMER NATIONAL. In 2021, they took home the grand prize of €15000 Holger Czukay Preis für Popmusik der Stadt Köln to pay tribute to their contribution to the pop culture of their hometown.
AnnenMayKantereit: our days
In 2019, the guys managed to sign a contract with BMG Rights Management. For artists, the signing of the contract has become a key moment. According to the musicians, they have been "tagging" about cooperation with BMG Rights Management for a long time.
Then it became known that they are working on the creation of a new LP, which should be released next year. In 2019, the artists managed to please the “fans” with concerts. They also lit up at major festivals.
In 2020, AnnenMayKantereit released a record with the concise title "12". The collection was topped by as many as 16 unrealistically cool tracks. In general, the album was positively received by the public.
Today, the band's concert activity is gradually "coming to its senses". The musician promises "fans" that in 2022 they will again take to the big stage.
