Anouk Teeuwe was born in the Netherlands. It happened on April 8, 1975. The girl's mother sang in a band that played the blues. Therefore, Anouk learned early on the downside of being creative. In 1994, when it was time to choose a profession, Anouk confidently set its sights on the music academy. The girl did miraculously. It is surprising that this happened, given her poor school preparation. Already during this period, Anouk did not leave anyone indifferent with her vocal abilities.
The girl, despite the zeal to learn, could not stand it for a long time. After a couple of years of boring theory, she wanted to quickly begin active practice. Over the years of study, she did not have time to master playing musical instruments, she could not boast of rich knowledge in music.
Already in 1995, Anouk organized the creation of their own group. The team got an invitation to participate in a local music festival. The result was disappointing. She disbanded the group, began to look for new opportunities.

A lucky event for Anouk was the acquaintance with the lead singer of Golden Earring. The team, known in the country, became its guide to the big stage. Barry Hay and George Kooyans, members of the group, wrote a song for a girl who charmed them with her vocal abilities.
So the young vocalist recorded her debut single "Mood Indigo", agreed to participate in the group's tour. Under the influence of the band, the romantic blues style lost its appeal for Anouk. She gradually merged into the rock music industry.
Achieving popularity
Anouk recorded a song with an autobiographical story in 1997. "Nobody's Wife" became the impetus for recording an entire album. The singer's first solo compilation "Together Alone" appeared at the end of the year. The debut was successful. The album went platinum, the lead single topped the country charts, and a couple of other songs made it into the top 10.

In the works of the singer, motives of ska, hip-hop and funk are noticeable.
With this album, the artist strengthens her position in the Netherlands and also becomes an idol in Belgium. The singer receives 2 more Edison Awards, 4 wins at the TMF Awards, and at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 1999 she is called the best artist in the country. In 1997, the singer managed to be married. Relations with the first chosen one, her manager at that time, did not work out, the marriage broke up very quickly.
