Antonina Matvienko is a Ukrainian singer, performer of folk and pop works. In addition, Tonya is the daughter of Nina Matvienko. The artist has repeatedly mentioned how difficult it is for her to be the daughter of a star mother.
Childhood and youth of Antonina Matvienko
The artist's date of birth is April 12, 1981. She was born in the very heart of Ukraine - the city of Kyiv. Little Tonya was brought up in a primordially creative and intelligent family: her mother is a singer Nina Matvienko, father - artist Pyotr Gonchar. The artist's grandfather, a sculptor, ethnographer and collector, deserves special attention. Ivan Gonchar is the founder of the Metropolitan Museum of Folk Art.
“I don’t remember my grandfather well. In my recollections, he was strict, and I was even afraid of him. I remember being at my grandfather's house. By the way, the house served as a place for a museum.”
Antonina admits that, unlike her grandfather, she had very soft and accommodating parents. Matvienko Jr. got along well with them. According to the artist, she addressed her father and mother exclusively to “You” - this was the custom in their family.
She was brought up in a religious family in which the Laws of God were respected. Antonina attended church with her brothers and parents. Otherwise, mom and dad did not interfere with her childish pranks. She grew up as a beloved and happy child.
At the beginning of the creative path of Nina Matvienko, the family lived modestly. The artist was not invited to perform, since folk art was practically not in demand among the public. Nina Matvienko was listed as a soloist in the choir named after Grigory Veryovka and received a little more than 80 rubles. The situation of the family improved after she became a soloist of the Kyiv Camerata, and then organized the Golden Keys trio.
Antonina admits that when her parents began to travel abroad, the financial situation improved significantly. They brought many things for the children, and her school friends were openly jealous of her.
She always dreamed of being a singer. Matvienko Jr. never hid the fact that her mother strongly influenced her choice. The first performances of the young singer took place in the 90s in the United States of America. A year later, on Independence Square, Tone was entrusted to perform the Anthem of Ukraine.

Antonina studied at the Kyiv Musical Boarding School. At the end of the 90s, she held a diploma of graduation from an educational institution. But that is not all. Then she entered the capital's Institute of Culture and Arts. Some time later, in the same higher educational institution, she received another higher education. She became a certified vocalist of folk singing.
Antonina Matvienko: creative path
The first attempts to realize creative potential happened in youth. Antonina took the position of a singer at the Art Gallery. Then she worked as a PR agent in an advertising company, but she felt that she was out of her element.
In 2002, Matvienko Jr. performed in a duet with K. Gerasimova. The performance touched the audience. Antonina had a burning desire to become a popular Ukrainian singer.
A few years later, she joined the national Ukrainian ensemble "Kiev Camerata". This marked the beginning of the solo career of Matvienko Jr.
After some time, the artist plays in the theatrical production of "Scythian Stones". The debut on the theater stage gives her an unforgettable experience. As part of the performance, she visited the territory of the United States of America and Kyrgyzstan. Upon returning to her native country, Matvienko visited the Gogolfest festival.

According to Antonina, her friends advised her to register for the project. Relatives insisted that it was on the “Voice of the Country” that she would receive the national calling of talent, and of course, popularity.
Antonina's mother did not even know that her daughter took such a desperate step. Filling out a long questionnaire at night - already in the morning, she found out that they were invited to audition. Alas, during the first broadcast, none of the judges turned to the singer. Matvienko Jr. about her experiences:
“When no judge chose me at the closed audition during the first broadcast, the defeat was a real tragedy for me. I can’t say with certainty that I thought that I would pass or even take a prize. This event was right before my birthday. I felt like I was doing everything right. I was satisfied with the performance. My mom encouraged me too."
Antonina took the failure hard. That day she sobbed until morning. But, the main mistake of Matvienko was that she made big bets on this project. Still would! 30 years "on the nose", but she never took place as a solo artist.
But, all experiences were in vain. The next day, the project managers contacted her, announcing that there was a shortage of participants on the show. They invited Tonya to become a member of the Voice of the Country. The artist answered with a resounding "yes."
She was one of the brightest participants in the project. But, Antonina was always among the candidates for relegation. Rumor has it that difficult songs were specially selected for her in order to “fill up” the artist. Matvienko reached the final, but, alas, she did not get the first place.
Then she contacted Andrey Pidluzhny and offered to compose a composition for her. He gave a positive answer. Actually, this is how the solo career of Matvienko Jr. began.
Solo career of Antonina Matvienko
In 2012, she went on a joint tour with Arsen Mizoyan. He started in Sumy, the long-distance artist went to Ternopil, Lutsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Uzhgorod and Zaporozhye.
A year later, Antonina and Nina Matvienko pleased the fans of their work with the release of a joint album. The disc was called "Nove that better." In the same year, she performed at the Global Gathering Ukraine with Tapolsky & VovKING. The artists presented a joint work with a unique mix of Nina Matvienko and electronic stylistics.
In 2016, she decided to reach even greater heights. Antonina applied for participation in the semi-finals of the national selection of the Eurovision Song Contest. This time luck was not on the side of the Ukrainian performer.
The repertoire of Matvienko Jr. consists of cool Ukrainian (and not only) colorful tracks. She separated from her previous husband on her own initiative. According to Antonina, when she stopped feeling warm feelings for her ex-husband, she decided to leave. “I can’t be with a man for money, children, a house or something else,” says the singer.
At the time of his acquaintance with Arsen Mirzoyan, he was married. Moreover, there were small children in the marriage. At first they were good friends, they performed on stage together, and later they realized: a working relationship and friendship grew into something more.
In 2016, they had a common daughter, and a year later they got engaged. Now they are inseparable both at home and in creativity, and they call their love the most important adventure.
