The parents of little Mary left their home from time to time. They often toured, so the girl had to spend time with her grandmother.
Having become a star, Varum more than once mentioned the name of her grandmother in her interviews. She remembered her mint gingerbread and fairy tales, which she read to the girl at night.
Maria studied at a comprehensive school. The girl was in very good standing with the teachers. When it came time to study music, the father was categorically opposed to his daughter attending a state music school.
He noted that teachers at the music school severely limit the development of children.

From the age of 5, Varum began to play the piano. In adolescence, the girl has already mastered playing the guitar.

After studying at school, the girl goes to conquer the harsh and somewhat cool Moscow. Varum submits documents to the famous Shchukin school, but fails the exams.
Varum was very upset by this turn of events. The girl returns back to Lvov.

The beginning of the musical career of Angelica Varum
In the late 80s, Anzhelika Varum recorded two solo compositions that her father wrote for her. It was Midnight Cowboy and Hello and Goodbye.
The first composition turns out to be so trump that Varum finds his first fans and behind them a round of popularity.
With the musical composition "Midnight Cowboy" Angelica makes her debut on the "Morning Star" program. In the same period of time, the singer notes that the name Maria does not sound at all presentable.
Varum decides for himself to take a creative pseudonym - Angelica. As a child, my grandmother often called little Mary, Angel.
Therefore, when the time came to choose a stage name, the choice fell on "Angelica".
Two years later, Angelica already presented her debut album, which was called "Good Bye, my boy." In a matter of time, the disc hits the bull's-eye, and makes Angelika Varum a popular favorite of the public.
The song that led the record told the listener about the separation of young lovers due to the fall of the USSR and the refrain repeating the aphorism "Goodbye, my boy" became the anthem of that time for the performer's peers.
In 1992, Angelika Varum was very lucky. The little-known performer was invited to her theater by the Primadonna of Russia herself - Alla Borisovna Pugacheva.
Alla Borisovna gave Varum a good start to move on. A little time will pass and Varum and Pugacheva will become good friends.
The second disc "La-la-fa", which was released in 1993, strengthened Varum's popularity. The song “The Artist Who Draws Rain” became a real top song of that time.
The track "Gorodok" for a long time was the soundtrack to the popular humorous program of the same name, and "La-la-fa" became a nominee for the "Song of the Year" award.

In 2000, the guys delight their fans with a new disc "Office Romance". Then Varum and Agutin no longer hid the fact that they were in love with each other, and their creative union grew into something more.
Since the beginning of 2000, the musicians have been working closely with Fyodor Bondarchuk, who shot a number of video clips for them.
But Angelica also had other successful creative unions. For example, since 2004, the singer has been collaborating with the musical group VIA Slivki.
