The history of the creation and composition of the Arch Enemy group

The history of the group's creation dates back to the mid-1990s. At the origins of the team is Michael Amott. The guy was born in London, and his career started in the early 1980s in the Disaccord group. He has been with the team for a year. According to him, he left the project because he was not satisfied with the terms of cooperation.

The Carnage group became another "shelter" for Michael. But here, too, he did not stay long. Soon he joined the ranks of the Carcass group. After leaving the team, Amott created his own project. He named his brainchild Spiritual Beggars. Michael plunged headlong into the beautiful world of retrograde stoner rock.

The musician was pleased with the work in the group Spiritual Beggars. His plans were not to create a new project. After recording several LPs, Michael was contacted by representatives of the Wrong Again Records label and offered to record the tracks that he created when he was part of the Carcass group. Amott agreed and set about looking for new musicians.

Soon he contacted Juhan Liiva. Together with him, Michael was listed in the Carnage team. Then Michael's brother Christopher joined the composition of the new Arch Enemy team. Until that time, Christopher had no experience of working on stage and in a recording studio. Therefore, the work was given to the musician very hard. In addition, Michael invited session musician Daniel Erlandsson.

Group popularity

When the guys fell in popularity, and the group signed a contract with a Japanese label, Michael invited several more musicians - Peter Vildur and Martin Bengtsson. Martin did not stay long as part of the group. Soon he was replaced by Charly D'Angelo, and Daniel Erlandsson joined Arch Enemy instead of Peter.

It was enough for the musicians to release three studio albums to develop a recognizable style. At the same time, Michael realized that vocalist Juhane fits into the standards of the band. He felt that the group needed a different face. He asked Johan to voluntarily leave the band. Soon he was replaced by the charming Angela Gossov.

At one time, Angela worked as a journalist. She already knew Christopher. Somehow, the girl interviewed the musician, and at the same time handed over her musical recordings. Angela impressed not only the frontman, but also the fans of the group. The former vocalist also did not remain without work. First, Johan created the group Nonexist, and then Hearse.

In 2005, Michael's brother left the band. The busy touring schedule, as well as the endless work in the recording studio, deprived the musician of strength. Christopher left the team to improve his personal life. Soon his place was taken by Gusa G. Some time later, Fredrik Åkesson joined the Arch Enemy team permanently. Christopher took part in the recording of the seventh LP.

In 2014, there was another disbandment of the composition. Gossow finally decided to leave the stage. Now she is engaged in the commercial affairs of the team. Alyssa White-Gluz took her place. During the tour, Nick Cordle left the team. He was soon replaced by Jeff Loomis. The musician joined the line-up on a permanent basis.

Creative way and music of the group

Almost after the creation of the team, the guys presented their debut album to fans of their work. Longplay was called Black Earth. The record was recorded under a contract with Wrong Again Records. After the presentation of the collection, Michael did not plan to work in the new group further. Because he thought it was a "one-time action." His plans changed a bit after Bury Mean Angel reached the top of the music charts. The song was regularly played on MTV.

After such a huge success, Toy's Factory offered the musicians a long-term contract. Michael did not plan on long-term work in the team, but still he could not refuse to make a deal. After signing the contract, the musicians went on a large-scale tour of Japan.

The band's tracks were mainly listened to in Sweden and Japan. Everything changed when the guys presented their second studio album. We are talking about the Stigmata record. From now on, music lovers from America and European countries were interested in the work of the collective. The musicians worked with the Japanese label Toy's Factory. And on the territory of America, the label Century Media Records was engaged in the "promotion" of the band.

After another change in the composition of the group, the musicians presented the third studio album Burning Bridges. In support of the record, the guys went on tour. As a result, they released a live record.

It is noteworthy that only the Japanese could purchase the record. Later, fans from other countries were outraged by their situation and demanded the start of sales on the territory of their states. Surprisingly, many critics called this record transitional. In it, the musicians gave all their strength to 100%. Despite this, the musicians managed to preserve the brutality of the works.

Longplay Wages of Sin was created with the participation of a new singer. After the presentation of the album, the group visited prestigious music festivals, where they performed with the well-known bands Motӧrhead and Slayer. On the wave of popularity, they replenished their discography with the album Anthems of Rebellion. This is the only longplay in which the musicians decided to use backing vocals. The guys presented a very colorful video clip for the song We Will Rise. The video was directed by George Bravo.

Group in the 2000s

In 2004, a mini-LP was presented, which included cover versions of tracks by Manowar, Megadeth and Carcass. In addition, music lovers could listen to some tracks from the concerts of their favorite band on the collection.

Soon the presentation of the full-length album took place. It's about the Doomsday Machine record. Century Media Records helped the musicians to record the collection. Interestingly, all the tracks for the record were written by Gossow. Amott and Erlandsson worked on the musical accompaniment. In honor of the release of the LP, the musicians went on tour.

A few years later, the Arch Enemy group gave fans of heavy music a Rise of the Tyrant record. The musicians later revealed that they started working on the compilation back in 2005. The album was warmly received not only by fans, but also by music critics.

To record Khaos Legions Arch Enemy, the musicians decided to extend their contract with Century Media Records. The album was released in 2011. Not only the musicians have made efforts to ensure that all the tracks of the collection sound of high quality. Sound engineer Rikard Bengtsson tried to create the right atmosphere during the recording of the songs. The tracks turned out to be very colorful and interesting in terms of sound.

The first LP War Eterna with vocals by Alyssa White-Gluz was released in 2014. The pearl of the disc was the composition War Eternal. Soon the group's discography was replenished with another musical novelty, Will to Power. The album sold well and the musicians became successful.
