Beast In Black is a modern rock band whose main genre of music is heavy metal. The group was created in 2015 by musicians from several countries.
Therefore, if we talk about the national roots of the team, then Greece, Hungary and, of course, Finland can be safely attributed to them.
Most often, the group is called the Finnish group, since it was territorially created in Helsinki. Today, the band is one of the most prominent representatives of its genre in Finland. The geography of listeners has spread far beyond the borders of the country. The team is listened to by thousands of "fans" from Europe, Russia and the Western world.
Line-up of Beast In Black
The team was founded by Anton Kabanen, an ex-member of the Battle Beast group. Anton is a guitarist, but his voice can often be heard as backing vocals in the band's songs.
Among other members: Janis Papadopoulos - the main vocalist of the band, Kaspere Heikkinen - guitarist, Mate Molnar - bass player and Atte Palokangas, who is in charge of percussion instruments. The latter replaced drummer Sami Henninen when he left the band in 2018.
Thus, Beast In Black is a classic rock band that practically does not use sampling, and creates all the arrangements on its own.
Beast In Black's music style
The Beast In Black band most often works in the heavy metal style that has already become a classic. However, in their music, the band often uses and combines some other styles of rock music. They are also sometimes classified as a subgenre of power metal. The group is prone to experimentation and unexpected musical solutions due to the versatility of its members.
The musicians admit that their work was influenced by such artists and groups as: Judas Priest, WASP, Manowar and other cult groups.
Berserk first album
In 2015, Anton Kabanen left the Battle Beast group, in which he successfully worked for several years, in order to create a completely new one. The name Beast In Black is similar to the previous one because both are a reference to the Japanese anime series Berserk.
Nevertheless, only the name remains similar between the two teams, since Anton did not invite anyone from the previous team to the new group and preferred to start all over again.
The group's first album was called Berserker. The release was released by the label Nuclear Blast, which specialized in working with rock musicians.
The musicians signed a long-term cooperation agreement with the company. The album did not require any special promotion.
Released on November 3, 2017, Berserker has been acclaimed by heavy metal fans around the world. Critics noted the simultaneous preservation of the best traditions of the genre and the movement forward through experiments and interesting solutions.
The album hit the top sales of Finnish music albums in 2017 and reached the 7th position there, and the singles from the disc stayed in the country's rock charts for a long time.
Berserker also sold well in Germany, the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and France. This gave the band a good head start and the opportunity for a high-profile release of follow-up material.
Rotation in the Beast In Black group
Despite their success, at the same time (February 7, 2018) the band announced the departure of drummer Sami Henninen from the band. Atte Palokangas took his place.
Some time later, the group included: Greek vocalist Yiannis Papadopoulos (formerly with Wardrum), Hungarian bassist Mate Molnar (from Wisdom) and Kasperi Heikkinen (former guitarist for bands such as UDO Amberian Dawn and others).
In the spring of 2018, the group opened up opportunities for the first tours, and on a global scale. The band was invited to open the European leg of Nightwish's tour. With this tour, the band Nightwish, known throughout the world, celebrated its tenth anniversary.
This meant that Beast In Black had to travel through several cities and European capitals, performing in front of an audience of thousands. This opportunity favorably influenced the further formation of the team.
Second album
After returning from the tour, the musicians began to prepare the second release with a renewed line-up. The record received the loud name From Hell With Love and was released on February 8, 2019, almost a year after the line-up was renewed. The album was noticed not only by ordinary listeners, but also by famous representatives of the genre.
Beast In Black: from one tour to another
So, the Finnish group Turmion Kätilöt invited the guys to go on another European tour as headliners at their performances.
It was no longer just a "warm-up" before the performance of the cult team, but a full-fledged program presented to the European audience.
After returning from the tour, Beast In Black almost immediately announced that they intended to go on another tour. This time with the Swedish band Hammer Fall and Edge of Paradise. The tour is scheduled to take place in the fall of 2020 and cover several cities in North America.
At the moment, the team has two full-length albums on their account, which were widely appreciated by listeners all over the world, as well as two European tours as headliners. Now the musicians continue to prepare for performances and plan to record new songs.
