History of the Bee Gees

The Bee Gees started in 1958. The original band consisted of the Gibb brothers and a few of their friends. Children from the cradle perceived musical rhythms and from childhood they were engaged with instruments. Their father Huey was the leader of a popular jazz band.

Gibba's first group was assembled in 1955. In addition to them, the team included their friends. The group lasted three years and broke up.

A new stage in the musical career of the Gibb brothers began in Australia, where they moved with their parents. While studying at Northgate School, young people regularly gave concerts on the street, which allowed them to always have pocket money.

The first public performance took place in 1960. Young people entertained visitors to the Redcliffe Speedway. This became possible thanks to the acquaintance of young people with Bill Hood.

A local DJ and promoter introduced the teenagers to the owner of a popular radio station. Since that time, the history of the team has gone uphill.

The producers called the guys BGs, later the name of the group changed to the recognizable Bee Gees today. The original composition, in addition to the Gibb brothers, included K. Pietersen and V. Melouni.

After the band's first TV performance, the producers noticed them and offered to record them in a professional studio. The group's first album was released in 1965.

The album "did not blow up" the charts, but was well received by the already established fans. Everything changed in 1966 when the guys recorded their first real hit with Spicks and Specks. The young people realized that their group had great potential, which would be difficult to realize in Australia.

Change of the creative direction of the group

The whole team moved to England. The Gibb brothers' father sent a demo to the Beatles' manager. The musicians were already expected in Foggy Albion. The musicians signed their first professional contract in 1967.

The band's first single (after cult producer Robert Stigwood began working with them) reached the top 20 in the UK and US charts.

The second full-length album Horizontal also became successful. The group began to sound more rock and modern. The team went on a US tour. Then there was Europe. The end of the tour took place in London's Albert Hall. The group declared itself to the whole world.

Intense touring activities had a negative impact on the musicians. The team decided to leave Meloney, and singer Robin Gibb was hospitalized with a nervous breakdown. The musicians decided to abandon the tour indefinitely.

In 1969, the best album of the Odessa band was released. A year before the recording of the double disc, the musicians visited Odessa. The city struck them to the core. The name of the next album did not have to be invented for a long time.

Unfortunately, after the release of the album "Odessa" among the Gibb brothers, there was a breakup. Robin left and started performing solo. The rest of the musicians released the album Best of Bee Gees without their main vocalist. In the wake of the former popularity, the songs from the disc quickly found themselves at the top of the charts.

In 2008, an experiment took place at the University of Illinois, the purpose of which was to improve the skills of doctors in first aid. Specialists had to improve their performance in chest compressions.

Experts found that it must be done at a speed of 100 clicks per minute. The Bee Gees' song Staying Alive has a rhythm of 103 beats per minute. Therefore, the doctors sang it during the massage. The experiment was declared a success. By the way, this song is on the ringtone of Moriarty in the series "Sherlock".

In the mid-1970s of the last century, the Gibba group decided to experiment with sound. The next album was released in the Electro Disco genre.

The audience warmly welcomed the transformation of the team. But the greatest success for the group was the recording of the soundtrack for the film "Saturday Night Fever", after which the group began to receive awards at various music awards.

Since the late 1980s, the popularity of the Bee Gees began to decline. It was only in 1987 that this was stopped. The next numbered album "ESP" reached the first position in all major charts.

On March 10, 1988, Andy Gibb died at the age of 30. The musicians wanted to close the project, but during a charity concert held together with Eric Clapton, they decided to continue working. Several collections of the best songs were recorded in a new arrangement. Then followed another dissolution of the team.

In 2006, the Gibb brothers reunited and wanted to continue working, but this was not to be. In 2012, Robin Gibb died of liver cancer. Thus ended the biography of the famous group, but not its legendary history.
