The idea of creating the group belonged to the young vocalist Jimmy Pop, nee James Moyer Franks, and musician-guitarist Daddy Logn Legs, better known as Daddy Long Legs, who later left the group.

Basically, the theme of the group's songs is connected with rude jokes about intimate relationships and everything connected with them. The musicians work in the genre of comedy rock. Nevertheless, compositions periodically appear in the genres of rapcore, nu-metal, hip-hop rap.

There are a number of crossovers with other artists. The Bloodhound Gang is known for their provocative and shocking behavior, even hooliganism.

The first four chords of the Bloodhound Gang

It all started as a joke, these were cover versions of famous Depeche Mode compositions. Later, a happy accident brought the group together with the guys from the God Lives Underwater group, who taught them how to use the technique.

Even the performers in the group were recruited for good luck. For example, the band's first bassist, Jed Jimmy, came to the musicians from the street. DJ Q-Ball was recommended to the group by a photographer who shot the soloist for a passport.

With the first income from the sale of the record, Jimmy Pop has already acquired a real instrument. He started playing with four chords, and it was this fact that caused the group to initially focus on guitar performance.

The Bloodhound Gang achieved fame quietly...

Finally, the musicians were able to declare themselves only in the early 1990s, creating an alternative project Bang Chamber 8. Their first claim to popularity was the demo cassette of the same name.

And only after a while the team got its current name, inspired by the popular children's show of the 1980s about detectives. At the same time, the manner of performance also changed.

However, the musicians were never able to perform in any club. Their first stage was the apartment of future bass player Evil Jared Hasselhoff, with whom the project leader once studied together at Temple University. They also bought their Just Another democassettes for a nominal fee.

Already at the beginning of next year, several demo songs were released at once, which later ended up in the label's main collection. At the same time, the guys attracted the attention of the Cheese Factory Records corporation, which signed an agreement with them. And since November 1994, the EP (mini-album) Dingleberry Haze was released, which was sold in a small circulation. The total quantity is 100 copies.

At the same time, Daddy and drummer Skip Opottumas left the band, and the contract with the studio was terminated. And the team (as a replacement) was joined by musician Evil Jared Hasselhoff with DJ Kyu-Ball.

With the new line-up, the musicians recorded the One Fierce Beer Coaster compilation, at the same time the studio "first-born" of their personal brand, now renamed Republic Records, appeared. At the same time, a real world tour of the group took place in the USA, Europe and Australia.

The musicians presented their work to the world, performing with the new single Fire Water Burn, which occupied a leading position on more than one chart.

The song can also be heard on the soundtrack of the film Fahrenheit 9/11, which was popular with the US military in Iraq. A number of the band's compositions were used in the soundtrack for a film by freelance filmmaker Kurt Fitzpatrick.

Over the entire period, the band managed to release several albums: Just Another, The Out, The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Hitler's Handicapped Helpers, among them was the album Hooray for Boobies, which included the popular single The Bad Touch.
