The world music style is created by combining various ethnic and electronic sounds, creating its own fantastic musical kaleidoscope of voices and rhythms taken from different parts of the world, as well as dance or chillout beats.

Musicians compose national music bit by bit and, by translating it onto a newfangled electronic background, help save the disappearing culture of the race and the few nationalities and tribes around the world that are threatened with extinction in the era of industrialization.

The beginning of Deep Forest

The group began its formation in 1991, when the musicians first began to work together. At that time, Eric came up with and performed melodies of the Rhythm & Blues direction.

Eric Posto liked house melodies with their enveloping soft rhythm very much, and was also fond of producing, and Michel had an excellent command of the organ and studied the structure and harmony of African music.

Once, during a joint meal, Eric caught a rather strange melody on a tape recorder. The then not very popular song Sweet Lullaby sounded from the speakers.

Eric and Michel worked on its arrangement directly in the studio, where they subsequently combined, improved and reworked excerpts from the sound of a cappella from countries such as Zaire, Burundi and Cameroon. From these small pieces, a collection of harmony melodies from all over the world appeared.

The duo's first single, Sweet Lullaby, was released in 1992 and was able to take the group to the top positions of all charts. It was nominated for a Grammy Award, in Australia it managed to get platinum twice, and in the USA, about 1 thousand unique copies were sold in just 8 month.

The use of components of the music of various nationalities led to the fact that some of the works of their albums were involved in the tape of charitable collections that were released under the program to help African tribes.

Through its actions, the Deep Forest group has been honored with the opportunity to work with UNESCO.

Success and collaborations of Deep Forest with other artists

Deep Forest has become very popular over the years, partly due to the fact that it has worked in several directions. For example, together with Peter Gabriel, they recorded a track for the then-popular film Strange Days (1995).

The group also collaborated with the famous artist Lokua Kanza, and the famous composition Ave Maria performed by him is included in the World Christmas album, which was released in the fall of 1996.

Dao Dezi is another intent designed by Eric Mouquet and composer Guillain Joncheray, who served as an executive producer for the group.

The resulting composition is a combination of the sounds of ancient musical instruments of the Celts and excellent singing with electronic components.

At the same time, Michel was fascinated with his brainchild with Dan Lacksman, a sound engineer, and as a result of the project, they released their album Windows, which sounded similar to Deep Forest.

Pangea is another project named after a primeval that existed on Earth in the distant past. Pangea was created without much involvement of musicians, Dan Lacksman and Cooky Cue, sound engineers, worked on this brainchild.

The Pangea album was released in European countries in the spring of 1996 and only then in America, at the end of the summer. A lot of people think that the Deep Forest band only works in the studio, but in fact this is absolutely not the case.

Deep Forest concert tour

In early 1996, when they were able to accumulate enough material for a concert tour, the musicians went on their first world tour.

The debut on the big stage took place in connection with the departure of the then famous G7 show in the French city of Lyon.

After this performance, Deep Forest went on a world tour with a dozen musicians at once. Also did not forget about the unique vocalists from nine unique nations.

The group performed in the summer in Budapest and in Athens at the beginning of the autumn period. In October, a flight to Australia took place, where performances were held in Sydney and Melbourne.

In the middle of autumn they were able to perform in Tokyo and return for another concert in Budapest. The final concerts were held in winter in Poland and Warsaw.

Group Awards

One of the group's significant triumphs during its existence is the Grammy Award, which was awarded in 1996 for their new album Boheme. The group won in the nomination "World Music".

She was also honored as a musical group from France, which reached the highest level of sales over the past year.
