The Brockhampton group is called upon to return to music lovers the good old tube hip-hop, as it was before the arrival of the gangsters. The members of the group call themselves a boy band, they invite you to relax and dance with their compositions.

The team was first noticed on the online forum Kanye To The. There they placed the studio album Saturation. The team is sensitive to the visuals in the video clips. But to be precise, unlike the rest of the freshmen, they basically don't read to the trap.

Trap is a musical genre that has its roots in the late 1990s. The tracks of this genre actively use multilayer synthesizers, dirty and rhythmic snare drums, deep drums, as well as hi-hats, which are accelerated several times.

The history of the creation and composition of the Brockhampton group

At the origins of the group is the talented Kevin Abstract. The team included 15 rappers. It is noteworthy that the musicians in the group held various positions - from artists to art director.

The rappers met on a Kanye West fan site. The conversation between individuals went so well that soon the guys decided to create an independent musical project. The group included vocalists:

  • Kevin Abstract;
  • McLennon House;
  • Matt Champion;
  • Marilyn Wood;
  • Job;
  • Bareface.

The rest of the team divided among themselves the positions of sound engineer, graphic designer, photographer, web designer, producer and manager. Initially, the musicians performed under the name Alive Since Forever.

After the formation of the line-up and division of duties, the musicians began to collect material for the recording of the first collection. Soon rap fans could enjoy the tracks of the multi-genre mixtape All-American Trash. In late 2014, Alive Since Forever disbanded to become Brockhampton.

A year later, the musicians presented their debut album Saturation. The collection was distinguished by a significant number of tracks with warm and lyrical choruses.

Music by Brockhampton

In 2017, the presentation of the track Cannon took place. Later, a music video was also released for the song. In May of the same year, the musicians presented the first song of the new album Saturation Face.

Within a few weeks, the rappers presented several more tracks and music videos for them as a promo for the album: Heat, Gold, Star. The videos were directed by Kevin Abstract himself. The clips were filmed in the area where the musicians themselves lived, in South Los Angeles (California).

However, this was not all the news of the group. In 2017, the musicians announced that they were launching a new show. We are talking about the American Boyband project from Viceland. It tells about Kevin Abstract's solo tour and the work on the Saturation record.

The show premiered on June 8, 2017, as did the presentation of the track. As well as the video for it Lamb already from the second collection of discography Brockhampton Saturation II. Such a move attracted considerable attention to the musicians.

The presentation of the second studio album Saturation II was accompanied by the release of promotional singles and video clips for them: Gummy, Swamp, Junky. Already in August 2017, the exact release date of the second album was known.

The final track "Sweet" and the music video for the song appeared online on August 22. On the same day, the unexpected release of Follow took place. It was officially confirmed on one of Kevin's social networks as the single from the last album of the Saturation III trilogy.

On September 14, 2017, the band's frontman revealed that the trilogy would be released before the end of this year along with a box set that would include previously unreleased material.

In the same 2017, the presentation of the lead single of the third album Boogie took place. A little later, a symbolic video clip was released for the track. The new collection was warmly received by both fans and music critics.

In December, the soloists of the Brockhampton group announced the release of their fourth studio album, and even announced its title. The new Team Effort compilation, according to the musicians, was supposed to be released in 2018.

Presentation of the short film Billy Star

The fact that talented and extraordinary people gathered under the wing of the Brockhampton team became clear after the presentation of the short film Billy Star.

The film was to be turned into a feature film and released in theaters in America in 2018. In the film, Kevin wanted to tell fans about the history behind the recording of the Saturation trilogy.

The full-length film was filmed, and in a short time. But its director Kevin Abstract decided not to release the full version and leave Billy Star in a short film format.

Cancellation of the release of the fourth studio album

In 2018, the musicians announced that the previously announced Team Effort compilation would not be released. Instead, the boy band promised to release a new album, which, according to the musicians, will be called Puppy.

However, Puppy's release was also delayed. It’s all to blame for the accusations of mental, verbal and sexual abuse against the soloist, one of the founders of Amir Ven’s boyband by ex-girlfriends.

Weng did not deny the allegations, even asking the girls for an apology on one of his social networks. However, the musician did not admit physical violence.

In 2018, it became known that Amir Wen informed the fans about the decision to leave the project. The guy also apologized to the members of the group for the fact that there were many disagreements between them. Boyband decided to cancel the planned concerts in the United States of America as part of the Stereo Spirit Tour.

In addition, in 2018 it became known that the Brockhampton group signed a contract with RCA Records. The glossy edition of Billboard published information that this deal turned out to be very profitable for the musicians. They received $15 million and pledged to release 6 full studio albums over the next three years.

That same year, the Brockhampton band attended Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show. There, the guys presented the song Tonya, which was not published anywhere. They also announced the release of the album The Best Years of Our Lives.

The Brockhampton Collective Today

In 2018, the band's discography was replenished with a new album, Iridescence. With this disc, the musician marked the beginning of The Best Years of Our Lives trilogy. This is the first boy band project without the participation of Ameer Vahn. Some fans asked to return the vocalist to the group, as the tracks started to sound different without him.

But these are not the only changes - the compositions on the new disc sounded even more experimental than the guys' previous work. Even with the creative range of the team.

2019 did not remain without fresh novelties. This year, the band's discography has been replenished with the fifth full-length disc. We are talking about the Ginger album. Critics noted:

“The new album makes us dive into a wistful sadness in vocals and instrumental with the first two songs, which then dynamically changes in waves between depression, suppressed aggression, thoughtfulness and almost no return to positive after the track Boy Bye…”.

In 2020, the musicians announced the release of the sixth album. Also this year, the band pleased with the release of a bright remix for the composition Dua Lipa. In addition, a presentation of new tracks took place in 2020. We are talking about the songs of NST and Things Can't Stay the Same.

In April 2021, the band's discography was replenished with a new album. The Brockhampton compilation was titled Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine.
