Daughtry is a well-known American musical group from the state of South Carolina. The group performs songs in the rock genre. The group was created by the finalist of one of the American shows American Idol. Everyone knows member Chris Daughtry. It is he who has been "promoting" the group from 2006 to the present.

Chris Daughtry

Chris Daughtry (founder of the group) was born on December 26, 1979 in a family of ordinary workers. His parents named him Christopher Adam Daughtry. 

Chris was interested in music at a very early age. At the age of 16, he took up singing seriously, even taking guitar lessons from the best teachers in the region.

Chris performed for his school audience in the band Cadence. And also for Brian Craddock and Matt Jagger. He was the lead singer and guitarist who previously played in the band Absent Element. The Uprooted album included such famous songs as Conviction and Breakdown.

How was Daughtry formed?

Chris was auditioned at the RockStar competition, he did not make it into the main line-up. He then made it to the national show American Idol and made it to the final four. But he lost because of the low number of votes.

Immediately after the show, he received many potential job offers, including an invitation from Fuel to become the band's vocalist. He refused to participate in the group in order to create his own team.

And the guy managed to create a group with Josh Steele, Jeremy Brady, Andy Waldeck and Robin Diaz. Later, Robin Diaz, Andy Waldeck left the lineup.

Daughtry's first album

The debut work of Daughtry was presented in 2016. Two songs from this album, Feels Like Tonight and What About Now, were written by Chris.

Several songs on the record became hits, such as the fiery song It's Not Over. Her debut took place on the radio station in the winter of 2006. Almost instantly, the track took the 4th position in the ranking of the greatest hits. It hit the Billboard Hot 100.

Very soon the composition Home was released, which also became popular. The track peaked at number 100 on the Billboard Hot 5. The song was used in American Idol (Season 6). The Brazilian version of this show bought the rights to use the song in its seasons.

Despite the success of some of the singles from the album, the debut album in 2008 received a quadruple platinum. 

Then Jeremy Brady decided to leave the group Daughtry. In his place came one musician (31 years old) from Virginia. His name was Brian Craddock. Daughtry and Craddock had known each other for years.

Daughtry's second album

Their second album, Leave This Town (2009), topped the charts. The single No Surprise entered the top five of the best musical compositions of the current year.

The guys, when they were preparing the album, wrote 30 songs, but only 14 hit the record. For the collaboration, Chris invited Chad Krueger (Nickelback), Ryan Tedder (One Republic), Trevor McNiven (Thousand Foot Krutch), Jason Wade (Lifehouse), Richard Marks, Scott Stevens (The Exies), Adam Gontier (Three Days Grace) to record songs ) and Eric Dill (The Click Five).

During the first week, the album was released with a circulation of 269 thousand copies. 

Subsequent work by the guys from Daughtry

Two years after the release of the second album, the group released their third work, Break the Spell. The musicians specially created the song Drown in You for the video game Batman: Arkham City. 

The fourth album Baptized was released and became available to listeners on November 19, 2003. 

The musicians released their fifth album Cage to Rattle in 2018. His first official single was Deep End. 

The band is currently preparing material for the release of Nothing Lasts Forever. But due to the pandemic, the release was postponed to 2021. Although one of the songs World on Fire is already available for listening.

Seeing the band's name, it is often mistakenly considered Chris' solo project. Although the names of such famous bands as Bon Jovi, Dio, Dokken and Van Halen were created in this way. The team chose the name of the founder for the name of the group, explaining this by the fact that the name Daughtry was already known.
