Dschinghis Khan is a popular German disco band that first appeared on the scene in the late 70s. It is enough to listen to the tracks of Dschinghis Khan, Moskau, Rocking son of Dschinghis Khan to understand that the work of "Genghis Khan" is painfully familiar.
The band members like to joke about the fact that their work in the CIS countries is loved much more than in their native Germany. The team was created specifically to participate in the international Eurovision Song Contest. But it just so happened that they had to please their fans with new LPs and live performances for many more years.
The history of the creation and composition of the Dschinghis Khan team
As noted above, the disco group was created specifically to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest. At the end of the 70s, the prestigious competition was held in Israel. Ralph Siegel - stands at the origins of the formation of the group.
In a short period of time, the producer managed to write a 6% hit. The composition was called Dschinghis Khan. The first composition of the group was headed by as many as XNUMX vocalists.

The young team caught sympathy from caring spectators. As a result, the group took an honorable 4th place. Despite the fact that the musicians failed to “take” the first place, they managed to become famous all over the planet, and this is worth a lot. The track "Genghis Khan" in a short period of time has become a real hit of the international format. In Germany, the composition held the first line in the music charts for a month.
The enterprising producer understood perfectly well that one must be able to properly dispose of popularity. On the wave of success, the musicians present a number of "juicy" new products. At that time they released compositions Moskau, Kazachok, Der Verräter. The tracks were also presented in English versions. Artists made plans to conquer European music lovers.

The main roles are distributed quite cunningly and the following ingredients are needed for a hit recipe: a cunning and experienced producer, a talented lyricist, a smart choreographer and designer, as well as a large number of teenagers with thick wallets. The recipe is simple. The hit is ready!
The presentation of the tracks was followed by an extended tour. The team delighted the audience with bright theatrical shows. The highlight of the group were the original costumes. The performances of "Genghis Khan" were held with a large house.
Decline in the group's popularity
The band's popularity remained stable until the mid-80s. Then the team's rating starts to drop. There are several perfectly logical explanations for this. First, the team stopped keeping up with the times. Secondly, they have serious competitors.
Neither the original concert numbers nor the bright dramatic musical performance of Corrida saved their position. Based on the production, the musicians even released a CD, but it turned out to be an absolute failure. In the mid-80s, the team got together, and at the meeting the artists decided to stop their creative activity.
Return to the stage
But, in fact, it turned out that the musicians began to miss the stage. Some of them united and continued to tour under the banner of "Genghis Khan".
Soon, with a composition written specifically for Eurovision, they again wanted to try their luck. During the qualifying round, which took place in Germany, they took only 2nd place. After 10 years, the rest of the team performed in Japan with a concert at which they presented a medley of their hits.
At the beginning of the so-called "zero" Steve Bender had a burning desire to reunite the disco group. At that time, he managed to realize his plan. The "veterans" of the team joined forces and went on a tour, within the framework of which they also visited some CIS countries.
Then it turned out that new members joined the team. We are talking about Stefan Trek, Ebru Kaya and Daniel Kesling. The band's concerts were a huge success. Enthusiastic fans gladly accepted the group in their cities.
In 2006, the group lost several members at once. Bender passed away, and Trek decided to realize himself as a solo artist. A year later, the musicians added the word "Legacy" to the original name of the team. They continued to perform old hits, and were in no hurry with information about the release of a full-fledged LP.
2018 for fans of the pop group began with good news. It was revealed that Heichel and Trek decided to join forces and perform on stage together. It is noteworthy that by that time Stefan was the owner of the Genghis Khan brand in the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Spain, and Wolfgang represented it in the group's native country. The singers began performing under the banner of Dschinghis Khan. At the same time, information appeared that the musicians were working closely on the creation of a studio LP.
In the same year, the team presented a program that consisted of mostly old hits in Moscow. Fest "Disco 80s" then gathered more than 20 thousand spectators. This, as it were, confirmed that the popularity of such a legendary group could not disappear without a trace.
Dschinghis Khan at present
In 2019, the group held a number of concerts in their native country, as well as on the territory of the Russian Federation. A bright event for the team was the performance at the Dresden Opera Ball. It was then that the singers presented several new compositions to the fans, and also pleased them with the performance of long-loved hits.
In 2020, the German band presented a new album. The album was called Here We Go. The LP topped 11 tracks. The album was produced by Luis Rodriguez.
