In 1994, an unusual band called E-Rotic was created in Germany. The duo became famous for using explicit lyrics and sexual themes in their songs and videos.
The history of the creation of the E-Rotic group
The duo was created by producers Felix Gauder and David Brandes. And the vocalist was Lian Li. Prior to this group, she was part of the Missing Heart project, which also featured Brandeis. Later, the producers picked up a second member for the duet. They became a black rapper Richard Michael Smith.
The project became famous thanks to its unique images. Both members decided to stand out in a rather scandalous way. They wore only defiant, but sometimes even vulgar clothes. And they wrote the lyrics of their songs on frank topics - sex, erotica, feelings.
First Sex Affairs album
At the heart of the first album Sex Affairs were the main components - strong vocals, groovy rhythm and sexual energy. And inside the first album there was a cartoon erotic comic. Max, Fred, their girls and other characters became his heroes. Although the first singles were often criticized, the public more or less accepted them. Due to this, the album took the 15th position in the German chat. Later, the collection gained the status of "gold", and then "platinum".
During this period, the E-Rotic group reached the peak of their popularity. But then the problems began. The producers were unable to focus on one project, they were engaged in other musical projects. Because of this, both vocalists soon left the band. But Lian had signed a contract with Brandes and Gauder. Therefore, the girl continued to record songs for the E-Rotic group until 1999.
Replacing the composition of the team
Lian's place was taken by Jeannette Christensen, a Swiss fashion model. The girls were similar in appearance: both tall, slender and with blond hair. And the rapper was replaced by another African American - Terence D'Arby.
In this composition, the duo recorded several new songs:
- Fritz Love My Tits;
- Help Me Dr. Dick;
- Gimme Good Sex.
And also the group E-Rotic released the next compilation The Power of Sex. In his support, the band held concert tours in Poland and Germany. The new songs were original. But for them, the main components were sex and physical attraction. Listeners also accepted these compositions, they were often played on the radio.
After the release of the song Gimme Good Sex, the soloist left the group. In his place came the American Che Jounier. After that, the team went on a tour of European countries. The E-Rotic group even had concerts in Yekaterinburg and Moscow.
The next compilation, which was called Sexual Madness, was different from the previous ones. It no longer included stories from the first comics. The lyrics did not describe the adventures of Fred, Max and their girls. But the “fans” also liked these compositions, although the album itself was less popular than the previous ones. At this time, the duo took part in various promotions. The E-Rotic team performed with such performers as Scooter, Masterboy.
The departure of the group E-Rotic from Eurodance
The E-Rotic group in 1997 began to lose its popularity, because the ABBA team was at its peak. The German duo decided to perform with his cover versions. In 1998, the band returned to eurodance as it became popular in the Japanese market.
The team released a new album Greatest Tits. It included songs from old collections and several new compositions. In the same year, a new track Mambo No. was released. sex. But in Europe the album was not successful, its sales were negligible.
Exclusively for Japan in 1999, the band recorded a compilation Gimme, Gimme, Gimme. It includes 14 new songs. Later he became famous in Europe, but his name was changed to Missing You. To increase their popularity, E-Rotic decided to start recording a new album. But at that time, the soloist left the group.
New group members
Since 2002, new musical directions have appeared in the band's compositions. In support of the new albums, the group went on a tour of Europe, Asia, and ended up in the United States. In almost every country, the E-Rotic group gathered full halls of listeners.
But due to constant moving and frequent concerts, Yasmin Baysal and David Brandes were very tired. This was reflected in their work. Until 2014, the team had a period of stagnation. Then Lian Li returned to the group, and Brandeis was replaced by Stephen Appleton. They revived the team, at the same time the duet got its own official website.
In 2016, E-Rotic released the long-awaited new single Video Starlet. This song helped the team to revive, it showed the young audience the unique style of the group. And two years later, listeners heard the new song Mr. Mr. The team announced the recording of the next album.
