Childhood and youth

Maestro's date of birth is November 30, 1937. Edward was born an incredibly sickly child. When the newborn was only a couple of months old, he became seriously ill. Doctors did not give positive forecasts. The attending physician said he was a non-resident.

Prior to this, the family lived on the territory of Novosibirsk. When the head of the family found out about the terrible diagnosis of his son, he immediately moved his wife and Edward to Moscow. On duty, my father managed to gain a foothold in the capital, albeit not for long. Eduard was saved by local doctors.

The family constantly changed their place of residence, but as a teenager, Edward finally moved to the capital. The young man was taken in by his uncle, who was a professor at the Moscow Conservatory. For three years Artemiev studied at the choir school. During this period of time, he writes the first musical works.

In the 60s, Eduard graduated from the conservatory. He had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the creator of the synthesizer. Artemiev invited a new acquaintance to study a musical instrument in the laboratory of the research institute. Eduard got acquainted with the sound of electronic music. From the tape "Solaris" in 1972 started a long collaboration with Andrei Tarkovsky. The director was demanding on musical works, but Eduard always managed to create works that met the needs of the film director. The entire cinema community of that time was familiar with the name of the maestro.

When he had the opportunity to collaborate with Andrei Konchalovsky, he took advantage of this chance to the maximum. The director helped Edward visit the United States of America to record a composition for one of his films.

In Hollywood, he also began to collaborate with foreign filmmakers. He returned to his homeland only in the mid-90s at the request of Mikhalkov. The director again decided to use the talent of the composer.

The maestro wrote many compositions in the style of electronic and instrumental music. Symphonies and other classical works made a good impression not only on fans, but also on music critics. He wrote the compositions "Hang-gliding" and "Nostalgia" with the support of the poet Nikolai Zinoviev.

Even in his student years, a girl named Isolde won his heart. She played Edward's works at concerts. An innocent acquaintance grew into friendship, and then into a relationship and a strong marriage.
