Fall Out Boy is an American rock band formed in 2001. At the origins of the band are Patrick Stump (vocals, rhythm guitar), Pete Wentz (bass guitar), Joe Trohman (guitar), Andy Hurley (drums). Fall Out Boy was formed by Joseph Trohman and Pete Wentz.
The history of the creation of the Fall Out Boy team
Absolutely all musicians before the creation of the Fall Out Boy group were listed in Chicago rock bands. One of the founders of the group (Pete Wentz) decided to create his own project, and for this he called Joe Trohman. The guys were united not only by the desire to create their own group. Previously, they already knew each other, and even played in the same team.
Patrick Stump at this time worked as a salesman in his father's store. The store specialized in the sale of musical instruments. Joe often visited the institution, and soon invited Patrick to join the new group.
A little later, Andy Hurley joined the Fall Out Boy group. Soon, Patrick discovered strong vocal abilities in himself. Prior to that, he was listed in the group as a drummer. Now that Patrick has taken over the microphone, Andy Hurley has taken over on drums.
The quartet officially took the stage in 2001. The musicians have already managed to perform for fans of hard rock, but the name did not work out. For a long time, the group acted as a "noname".
The musicians did not come up with anything better than to ask the fans: “What is the name of your offspring?”. Someone from the crowd shouted: "Fall Out Boy!". The team liked the name, and they decided to approve it.
In the year the band was founded, the musicians released the first demo collection at their own expense. In total, the disc included three musical compositions.
A year later, a label appeared that agreed to help the guys release a full-length album. The collection combines songs from Fall Out Boy and Project Rocket.
The musicians admitted that they did not expect the music lovers to like the record. But the effect of the debut collection exceeded all expectations.
In 2003, the musicians returned to the same label to release a solo compilation. But here there are some changes. With the release of the Fall Out Boy's Evening Out With Your Girlfriend mini-LP, which received good reviews from music critics and the press, Fall Out Boy had already gone beyond "a young and underdeveloped group."
The label owners courted the musicians. The recording of the debut album was entrusted to the Florida label Fueled by Ramen, founded by Vinnie Fiorello, the drummer of the punk band Less Than Jake.
Music by Fall Out Boy
In 2003, the discography of the new band was replenished with the first full-length album, Take This to Your Grave. The album reached the top 10 in sales and became a strong argument for the major label Island Records. After the release of the disc, the label offered the quartet cooperation on favorable terms.
The Take This to Your Grave compilation impressed both music lovers and influential music critics. The collection includes a decent selection of punk tracks. The songs convincingly combined romance and irony. Dense guitar riffs and a parody of pop clichés were added to the compositions.
The debut disc made it clear that the musicians of the Fall Out Boy group had long since left the influence of the Green Day group. The music of the legendary band once inspired the musicians to create "something like that."
Pete Wentz has dubbed Fall Out Boy's sound "softcore". After the presentation of the debut album, the musicians went on a multi-month marathon. The concerts were honestly worked out by the team. The marathon introduced the Chicago formation to the broad punk masses.
A year later, the musicians presented the acoustic mini-compilation My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue. This disc contained a cover version of Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division. The collection exceeded all expectations of the fans.
Release of the second studio album
In 2005, the discography of the Fall Out Boy group was replenished with the second studio album From Under the Cork Tree. Fans should owe the appearance of the album to the book "The Story of Ferdinand" by the writer Munro Leaf.
The second album was produced by Neil Evron. He was responsible for the sound of A New Found Glory. During the first week, the collection sold over 70 copies. In addition, the collection hit the Billboard 200. The disc went platinum three times.
The musical composition Sugar, We're Goin Down brought a real world hit to the "musical piggy bank" of the Fall Out Boy group, which conquered the 8th position of the Billboard Hot 100. The video clip for the song, which was played on popular American TV channels, played an important role in this achievement.
The second track Dance, Dance is also worthy of attention. In terms of popularity, the song was slightly behind the hit Sugar, We're Goin Down. This year, the organizers of the Grammy Awards nominated the group for the Best New Artist nomination.
In 2006, the musicians announced the release of their third studio album. The new collection was called Infinity on High. The record "burst" into the music world in 2007. The album was produced by Babyface.
In his interview for Billboard magazine, Patrick Stump said that although the collection uses piano, strings and brass instruments more actively, the soloists:
“We tried not to get too carried away with the sound of musical instruments. We didn't want the guitar and drums to be muted. Yet they are in the spotlight. These are just rock compositions… From track to track, the sensations completely change, but in context they are all meaningful and thought out. The compositions seem to be different, but there is something that unites them….».

In 2008, during an interview-marathon, which was held at the Premiere studio in Los Angeles, the team set a record for the “distribution” of interviews. In total, the soloists talked to 72 journalists. This event was included in the Guinness Book of Records.
In the same 2008, the group's discography was replenished with a new collection, which, surprisingly for many, received the French name Folie à Deux ("Madness of Two"). Music critics were wary of the appearance of new items. It cannot be unequivocally said that music lovers liked the collection.
Fall Out Boy going on sabbatical
The team decided to start 2009 with a tour. As part of the tour, the musicians visited Japan, Australia, Europe, as well as all the states of the United States of America. At the beginning of the summer, serious conflicts began to occur within the Fall Out Boy team. The musicians announced that they were going into the sunset ... but not everything turned out to be so sad. The soloists simply decided to take a creative break.
In the same year, the band released their first collection of the best songs, Believers Never Die Greatest Hits. In addition to old and immortal hits, the album contained several new compositions.
End of creative break
In 2013, the musicians returned to the stage. During the creative break, the participants managed to visit various projects, including they tried themselves as solo performers.
In the same 2013, the band's discography was replenished with a new album, Save Rock and Roll. After the band's reunion, The Young Blood Chronicles musical film series began to appear on every track from the Save Rock and Roll record, starting with the video clip for the track My Songs Know What You Didin the Dark (Light Em Up). In 2014, the musicians played the Monumentour concert tour.
In 2014, the band presented the musical composition Centuries. The song for a long time occupied the 1st position of the country's music charts. A little later, another American Beauty / American Psycho track was released.
Together with the release of the singles, the musicians said that fans will soon be able to enjoy the tracks of the new album. The record was very popular among music lovers, it received flattering reviews in the press, and the singles from the collection became very popular.
The track Centuries received multi-platinum status, and the single Immortals became the soundtrack to the cartoon "City of Heroes". Later, the musicians announced a joint summer tour with rapper Wiz Khalifa, the Boys of Zummer Tour. The tour took place in the United States of America. After the presentation of the new album, the musicians went on the American Beauty / American Psycho Tour.
Fall Out Boy today
In 2018, the presentation of the Mania album took place. This is the seventh studio album by the American band, which was released on January 19, 2018 through Island Records and DCD2 Records. Before the release of the collection, the musicians presented the following singles: Young and Menace, Champion, The Last of the Real Ones, Hold Me Tight or Don't and Wilson (Expensive Mistakes).
In 2019, Fall Out Boy released a new track and also announced an album with Green Day and Weezer, along with the announcement of a series of collaborative performances to take place in the summer of 2020 in the UK and Ireland.
In November, the musicians released the compilation album Believers Never Die, the second part of the greatest hits album recorded between 2009 and 2019. Music critics and fans warmly received the collection.
