After meeting Garou, Plamondon realizes that there is simply no better performer for the role of Quasimodo. And it wasn't all about looks. Garou was too good-looking for the role, but his ability to transform and voice with a husky voice did their job.

The next two years, the singer tours with the musical and receives prestigious awards and awards for his performance. According to the musician himself and his colleagues, he is a romantic. When watching his own performances in the musical, he could not restrain his emotions, and even cried.

In the winter of 1999, Celine Dion organizes a concert with Pierre Garan and Bryan Adams, artists who performed in the musical Notre Dame de Paris. They were supposed to attend her New Year's concert and perform a few songs. After the first rehearsal, the singer and her husband invited Garu to dinner and proposed a joint musical work.

Garou's solo career began to develop quite well. His debut album Seul sold over a million copies. In 2001, he gave more than eighty performances, and his album "Seul ... avec vous" achieved platinum status in France.

Touring activities in support of this album lasted until 2009. 2008 was also marked by Garou's "L'amour aller retour", where he made his debut as an actor, except for his experience in various series ("Phénomania", "Annie et ses hommes").

Since 2012, he has been participating in The Voice: la plus belle voix as a coach. This show is the French version of the Voice program.
