Born in Naples, Italy in 1948, Gianni Nazzaro became famous as a singer and actor in films, theater and TV series. He began his own career under the pseudonym Buddy in 1965. His main field of activity was the imitation of the singing of such Italian stars as Gian Liugi Morandi, Bobby Solo, Adriano Celentano and others. Since 1968, after performing in Un disco per l'estate, Gianni Nazzaro decided to perform in public without a fictitious name.

The beginning of the creative path of Gianni Nazzaro

The performer in 1970 managed to win the song festival, held in his native Naples. The song "Me chiamme ammore" brought him triumph. After that, he made five attempts to perform in the creative competitions of the city of Sanremo. Often he managed to reach the final:

  • he performed the composition "Bianchi cristalli serene" as a contestant;
  • composition "A modo mio";
  • the song "Mi sono innamorato di mia moglie", written by Daniele Pace and Michele Russo.

The songs he performed during the period from the 1970s to the 1980s gained immense popularity. In addition, after the next festival, held in San Remo, since 1994 he begins to perform in the musical group Team Italy. The guys there performed fragments of classical musical compositions of Italy.

The beginning of the acting career of Gianni Nazzaro

Although the musician received his first roles back in 1971 (“Venga a fare il soldato da noi”), as well as in 1976 (the comedy “Scandalo in famiglia”), Gianni Nazzaro decided to take up acting in the 1990s. 

So, in 1990, he takes part in the mini-series with elements of action and thriller Vendetta: Secrets of a mafia bride. In 1998, he got the role of the parent of the heroine of the series "Posto al sole" Sarah de Vito, performed by actress Serena Autieri.

He played in Italy's longest-running TV series "Incantesimo". It ran for 10 seasons from 1998 to 2008. The musician's career continued in 2007, when he took part in the television series The Spell.

Already in 2009, he received an offer to join the main cast of one of the Italian operas, namely "Un posto al sole d'estate". In the same 2009, he agrees to play a role in the comedy Impotenti esistenzialli.

On the Rai Uno TV channel, in mid-autumn 2010, he was lucky to participate in the TV program "Ordinary Unknown". In the same 2010, Gianni Nazzaro is present in every episode of the Italian TV show A Thousand Voices. The following year, the singer, together with co-hosts Gianni Drudi and Stefania Cento, already becomes the host of the Thousand Voices show.

Work in the theater and performance in Argentina

At the end of autumn 2011, he begins to work on a theatrical comedy created by Karl Conti, called "The Best Years". He performs at the Salone Margherrita in Rome. Since 2012, the singer has been closely engaged in theatrical work. In addition, he again participates in the TV show "A Thousand Voices" as a presenter. 

In 2013 and 2014, the artist sings his own famous hits. He also shows the public new compositions, the author of which was the brother of Gianni Nazzaro Maurizio. Among them, the most memorable was "Come Stai".

Interestingly, thanks to his work in the TV show "A Thousand Voices", the Argentine impresario noticed the artist, he also became the organizer of the recording of the album, which contains compositions in Spanish. The Argentine impresario, in addition, organizes a promotional tour. During it, Gianni Nazzaro performs in many national programs in Argentina. He also gave concerts in Buenos Aires at the Coliseum Theatre. After a series of performances, the artist receives a new wave of resounding success.

Career revival

In the summer of 2014, the artist, after a long break, releases his own music album "L'AMO". Luigi Moselo became the coordinator of the artistic part of it. Since the fall of 2014, the artist has been successfully acting as a host with the well-known Karl Conti in the popular TV show Such and Such Shows. 

The show aired in prime time on the Italian channel Rai Uno. After the success of Gianni Nazzaro, as part of a team of artists, he is present in the famous TV program called Door to Door.

Starting in 2015, the artist returns to the role of the host in the TV show "A Thousand Voices", which again brings him great success. In 2021, the song "Perdete l'amore" became the symbol of Valentine's Day. He originally performed it during a performance in San Remo in 1988.

Personal life

In 2014, he reunited with his wife Nada Ovcina. He divorced a woman 8 years after the marriage, despite having two common children. He went to his girlfriend, French model Catherine Frank. In marriage with his second wife, the singer had two more children, but the marital relationship did not work out.

Two years later, the artist underwent a complex operation on the aorta. He lost one kidney and could become paralyzed. On the eve of the singer got into an accident in France with his wife. To this day, Gianni undergoes rehabilitation and physiotherapy courses, and also moves on a walker.
