The history of the appearance of the Godsmack group and the musicians in the composition

It all started with a 23 year old drummer named Sally Erna in 1995. In his youth, he tried both to create his own group, and "made his way" into existing teams, but the guy failed to complete any of the tasks.

But he did not lose heart, and soon joined the Strip Mind band, with whom he jointly recorded the first disc. Unfortunately, she was "failed".

It took only two years, and the group completely broke up. This forced Sally to change roles, and he decided to retrain from a drummer to a vocalist. In a short time, the guy managed to find good musicians.

It was Robbie Merrill, who took the role of bassist in the band, as well as guitarist Lee Richards and drummer Tommy Stewart.

Initially, the team decided to give the name The Scam, but after the release of their debut recording, the musicians realized that the name needed to be changed urgently.

They chose the option under which, after a short period of time, they became known throughout the world.

Due to difficulties on the personal front, Richards decided to leave his friends and partners in the music scene. Soon drummer Stewart followed suit.

Communicating with the press, he said that such a decision was caused by unexpected disagreements with the rest of the members of the musical group.

A replacement was quickly found for them, and the talented guitarist Tony Rombola first entered the group, and soon Shannon Larkin took the place at the drum set.

Musical career

After recording several songs, the group took the first step towards fame. Musicians began to be invited to Boston bars to perform.

This inspired the guys, and soon they released the songs Whatever and Keep Away, which soon allowed them to rise to the top positions in many hometown charts.

Thus, even more people learned about the group. The producers also did not stand aside and were constantly interested in the work of the guys.

In 1996, Godsmack decided to release their first album, All Wound Up. The guys spent only three days on this, and the investments were minimal - more than $3.

True, fans were not destined to see the disc on sale after the release, since for the first time it appeared on store shelves only two years later.

Time was only beneficial, and "hungry" listeners, along with critics, rated the album exclusively on the positive side. By the way, this record was on the 22nd position of the Billboard 200 hit parade.

In 2000, the second album Awake was released. The disc has more significant success and comes close to the 1st position of many charts.

And at the end of the year, the Godsmack group is nominated for the first Grammy Award. True, then the musicians were not lucky, and the competitors took the statuette.

In 2003, a new drummer appeared in the group, and together with him they released the next album, Faceless, recorded in studio conditions. Just a year later, he sold a million copies and was on the 1st position of the American chart.

Then another disc called "IV" was released and the song Speak included in it became a real hit. Then the musicians took a three-year pause, and then again started working on the next album.

Group suspension

But soon the "fans" learned the sad news. In 2013, Sully announced that the band would be on hiatus for a year.

He did not lie, and in 2014 the team returned to the stage again, recorded several more records, and the first of them was sold out in just a week with a circulation of over 100 thousand copies.

Critics also spoke positively about the record "1000 Horsepower" exclusively.

But the band released the next album When Legends Rise only in 2018, which included 11 best tracks, including Bulletproof and Under Your Scars, which received the status of real hits.

What is the group doing now?

Despite the fact of a long existence, the Godsmack team has not departed from the usual genre and manner of performance. Now the musicians tirelessly delight fans with new songs and give concerts.
