The talented singer Goran Karan was born on April 2, 1964 in Belgrade. Before going solo, he was a member of Big Blue. Also, the Eurovision Song Contest did not pass without his participation. With the song Stay, he took 9th place.

Fans call him the successor to the music traditions of historical Yugoslavia. At the beginning of his career, his songs were similar to rock, later to pop music.

Each of his musical masterpieces subtly reveals the features of the Balkan chanson.

The beginning of Goran Karan's career

In the early 1980s, Goran Karan was an indispensable member of the Big Blue, Zippo groups. Already in 1995, one of the songs was recognized as a world hit. In parallel, he received a major role in the musical Sarajevo Circle.

For the next six months, together with the Big Blue group, he went on tour to Germany, France, Italy, the USA and Austria. You won't be full with music alone, so Goran played the title role in the musical Rock It ("Rock is") at the Ronacher Theater in Vienna.

In 1999, the first solo album was released, which was very popular with listeners. Cover versions of his work were heard by absolutely everyone.

At the same time, the most prestigious Croatian festival was held, where he won another victory with the song “Window to the Yard”.

The artist's path to recognition

In the Free Dalmatia poll, he was named "Singer of the Year", and in elections and voting many other newspapers and radio stations in Croatia shared this opinion.

He performed with the musical Sarajevo Circle 8 times at the Vatroslav Lisinsky Concert Hall in Zagreb, twice at the Posthof in Linz and at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna.

There was even a television recording of a concert in Peristil at the Split festival (in the summer of 1999 it was nominated for the Golden Rose of Montreux world television festival award).

Goran Karan led a successful tour of the west coast of the United States and marked the end of the "How I Don't Love You" tour with a spectacular concert at Ban Josip Jelačić Square in Zagreb, broadcast on television and Croatian radio.

The singer won first place at the Dora 2000 contest with the song "When the Angels Fall Asleep". He then represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm. There success was not so overwhelming, he took 9th place.

At the prestigious music ceremony "Porin 2000" he was awarded three times in such categories as: "Best Entertainment Music Album", "Best Male Vocal Performance" and "Best Vocal Accompaniment" (duet with Oliver Dragojevic).

For the new record company Kantus in July 2000, Karan released a promotional single with the song "I'm just a tramp". With this composition, the artist performed at the festival "Melodies of the Croatian Adriatic-2000" and received the "Golden Voice" award.

He and composer Zdenko Ranjic put together an identical "winning" team together as on the first album and recorded a platinum masterpiece.

In the same year he performed at the Zagreb Festival, toured Croatia (with a special series of concerts "Tramp"), Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, France and Slovakia.

Popularity

In 2001, the album "Tramp" successfully hit Turkey. The song "Stay with me" took the 1st position in the Turkish top charts.

At the end of the year, he performed several times as part of the promotional tour of the Turkish version of the Big Brother show.

Popularity and recognition rapidly increased, conducted daily interviews with 10 TV channels and Cosmopolitan magazine. The composition "Stay with me" has already reached the shores of South Korea and China.

At the end of June 2001, he released a new album with the most sensational hits and two new compositions "Dalmatian Tears".

At the end of June 2002, the record was sold out in gold. Thanks to his title song, he was awarded the "Golden Voice" award at the "Melodies of the Croatian Adriatic-2001" festival.

Tour of Canada

2003 began with a tour of Canada, followed by tours of Australia, New Zealand and preparations for the title role in Zdenko Ranjic's Croatian musical Grgur.

In 2004, the singer received the second prize from the jury at the Split festival with the song I Know Everything, at the Sun Rock International Festival in a duet with Ivan Banfik. The song "The Love I Need Every Day" took 2nd place.

The next few months were very successful. Thanks to the song "Rose", the artist received awards at two prestigious festivals - "Split" and "Sunny Rocks" in Herzegovina.

Radio listeners from Serbia declared the composition "Don't send a ship" the best at the radio festival of all time.

In 2006, Goran restored concert activities.

At the prestigious Dalmatian Chanson Festival, held in Sibenik, he was awarded the Audience Choice Award.

Goran Karan continued to gather full houses at concerts in the countries of the former Yugoslavia.

Received two awards at the Croatian Radio Festival with the song "My Wind", which was chosen by radio listeners from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In May 2008, the sixth solo album "Child of Love" was released. All previous five albums were sold in gold edition. Karan apparently did not agree to anything less. If you conquer, then with masterpiece music and every single one.
