Groove Armada: How did it all start?

Until the mid-1990s of the last century, Tom Findlay and Andy Kato were DJs. Progressive guys, having mastered many musical instruments since childhood, developed their creativity separately. Andy played house and Tom tried funk in the other room of the club. 

The guys who are fond of electronic dance music have combined their creative ideas. As a result of common interests and work, a unique English electronic music club duo and franco house genre emerged.

Future friends were introduced by Andy's girlfriend, and soon the musicians opened their own Groove Armada club. The name was given in honor of the discotheque of the same name in Newcastle, a town on the northeast coast of England.

The popularity of the city with ancient history and bubbling nightlife in the 1970s was huge. After all, it was there that early electronic dance music was born. The name of the disco and the club passed to the formed team.

Progressive performance style

The symbiosis of two directions of electronic music performed by the duet has received an elegant, light and positive style. In 1995, the creation of music and remixes was considered by electronics as their entertainment and hobby.

In two years, the duo created several numbers that were included in the first album Northern Star (1998). In 1999, to the delight of the "fans", the group released the album Vertigo. With him, the musicians were among the best bands in Britain, for which they were awarded silver status. 

To this day, the Groove Armada group is a model of progressive house in their country. The album of the duet Soundboy Rock shocked the entire dance world with its performance.

The musicians' creativity combines modern rap and classical chanson, trendy performance and retro, lively and electronic sound that penetrates the ear like an electric current. 

With constant periodicity, the duo created strong hits: the groovy I See You Baby, the brooding My Friend, etc. Soundboy Rock is like a journey into the past, a brief tour of the styles of dance music over the past decade.

Groove Armada collaboration with Elton John

Bright and original musicians attracted the attention of the world famous singer Elton John. He invited them to play the role of a "warming up" band at their concerts. Due to increasing popularity in 2000, Vertigo was released in America.

The group gained even more fame. London electronics have created an album with remixes The Remixes. It showed an atypical presentation of numbers, performed them not in dance, but in jazz form.

The third disc of the duet was filled with fresh musical energy. As a result, it was nominated for the lead single of the Grammy Award. The duo collaborated with such famous performers as Richie Havens (guitarist, singer-songwriter), Nile Rodgers (American musician). 

Musicians with enviable constancy created new numbers. Famous songs appeared in their repertoire, which were included in the greatest hits collection of a variety of genres.

The Best of disc, which became a kind of result of the band's initial career. It included the greatest hits from the albums: Vertigo, Goodbye Country, Hello Night clab, Love Box and All of Me. 

In the song about farewell to the village and the meeting with the nightclub, the line between the music of the city and the countryside is erased. Musicians embodied electronic songs in the manner of rock, and rock compositions are voiced in the style of dj. In their numbers, they masterfully combined blues and hip-hop, rock and, of course, electro.

By 2010, the group had released 10 albums.

The life of musicians today

Electronic music has now become a separate art direction. She was liked by many fans of the unusual genre. Electronic music stars Tom Findlay and Andy Kato took part in the Lovebox festival every year. 

The sought-after club team constantly performed in major London clubs. They were invited to private parties and other significant events. Working in their own club, electronic musicians were residents in large clubs in London.
