History of creation and composition of the team

The team was formed on the territory of Göttingen (student campus in Germany), in 1994. The group was led by talented musicians:

  • H. Rumenapp;
  • D. Poshvatta;
  • Sh. Ude.

The guys remained in the shadow of popularity for a very long time. The situation changed radically when a new member joined the line-up. We are talking about Sandru Nasic. After another rehearsal, the trio went to a local bar to relax a little and drink alcohol. A vociferous girl worked in this institution. Alcohol unbelted the musicians, and they performed some tracks right in the bar. Sandra liked what she heard. The girl, without hesitation, offered the guys cooperation.

Initially, the trio of musicians treated the pretty girl rather lightly. Everything changed when Sandra sang. The guys were pleasantly surprised by her powerful vocal abilities. Then they begin to perform under the banner of Guano Apes. In this composition, the quartet set about conquering the rock scene.

The debut performance of the team in the updated composition took place in the cafeteria at the local school. The fee was ridiculous, so the rockers bought a case of delicious beer with the proceeds. The group spent several months in clubs and local pubs. The audience warmly welcomed the newly minted group. In one of the institutions, Bjorn Grall threw his experienced look at the musicians. Soon he will offer the guys his services. Bjorn became the quartet's manager.

Over the next year, the group gave over a hundred concerts. Each new appearance on the stage increased the popularity of the young team. Especially the work of the quartet was valuable in the territory of his native Germany. Musicians, in turn, wanted large-scale popularity. In this regard, they began to perform in the United States.

By the end of 97, the musicians had accumulated enough material to release their debut LP. The manager began negotiations with several recording studios.

Some time later, the musicians appeared at a prestigious festival in Texas. Then they signed a contract with Gun Records. The quartet realized that from that moment a serious conquest of US music lovers would begin.

Creative way and music of the group

The band's debut album Proud Like A God turned out to be incredibly successful. The record became popular not only in Germany. The collection hit the American and European charts. Critics explained this success by the fact that the collection featured top tracks that simply had no chance to remain in the shadows. We are talking about the musical works of Open Your Eyes and Lords Of The Boards. The conquest of the USA lasted until the sunset of the 90s.

At the beginning of the 1980s, the single Big In Japan was released. The premiere of the composition was timed specifically for the release of a new LP. The presented single is a cover version of the Alphaville group's composition, popular in the XNUMXs.

In 2003, the band's discography was enriched with the disc Don't Give Me Names. On the wave of popularity, the guys will present several singles. We are talking about the works of Break the Line and Pretty in Scarlet. As a result, the album received the so-called platinum status, and the rockers were declared the best German band.

At the same time, a DVD disc went on sale, which included one of the most memorable concerts, an audio record, more than 100 photographs and video clips of the band. But the biggest bonus is, of course, the interview with the members of Guano Apes.

Disintegration of the Guano Apes

Fans did not expect that in 2005 the musicians would officially announce the dissolution of the lineup. The guys did not comment on why they made such a decision. They presented the “fans” with The Best & The Lost (T)apes. The LP was released in 2006. The collection was led by previously unreleased demos.

The drummer of the group "put together" a new team, giving his offspring the name Tamoto. Bassist Stefan Ude decided to support his former bandmate. He took part in the recording of the debut LP Tamoto.

The band's frontman and guitarist Henning Rümenapp focused on working in the recording studio. The guys helped young talents to express themselves in the right direction.

A few months after the official breakup of the band, the musicians got together in one of the recording studios. When asked by journalists about a possible reunion, they answered the following:

“While we do not plan to reanimate the group. We just enjoy working together. We have common musical tastes and a common history. We have work to do…”

After the dissolution of the group, Dennis Poshwatta met Charles Simmons. Charles told a new acquaintance that more than 10 years ago he emigrated to Germany from the USA. He was into music. Simmons performed in nightclubs, but dreamed of more serious projects.

Charles joined the three former members of the Guano Apes. A new project, IO, has started in the arena of heavy music. Since its inception, the guys have attended fifty concerts. In 2008, the debut studio album was released. Alas, the new group did not manage to repeat the success they achieved in Guano Apes. The musicians decided to revive Guano Apes.

New releases

In 2010, they appeared at the Enterro da Gata fest. The musicians pleased the fans with a chic performance, and also talked about the fact that from now on their team in the original line-up will again conquer the rock arena. In the same 2010, the guys visited the territory of Russia and Ukraine. They pleased the residents of Ukrainian and Russian cities with a live performance.

The musicians didn't stop there. In 2011, the premiere of the single Oh What A Night took place. The novelty, as it were, announced the imminent release of a full-length LP. The ice broke on April 1st. It was then that the quartet expanded its discography with the Bel Air compilation. The album took the lead in the German chart.

In 2012, the musicians performed at the popular Rock am Ring festival. The guys pleased the fans with the performance of the top compositions of their repertoire.

A couple of years later, the band released the single Close to the Sun. In the same year, the LP Offline was released. The fresh record was warmly received not only by fans, but also by music critics.

Guano Apes at present

The last full length LP of the musicians was released in 2014. This does not prevent the guys from touring around the world. In 2019, they visited the Rock in Kyiv fest (Ukraine).
