The history of the creation of the Turetsky Choir

The history of the Turetsky Choir group dates back to 1989. It was then that Mikhail Turetsky created and led the male choir at the Moscow Choral Synagogue. This was not a spontaneous decision. Mikhail approached this event for a long time and carefully.

In 2007 and 2009 the Turetsky Choir group was joined by Konstantin Kabo with his chic baritone tenor, as well as Vyacheslav Fresh with a countertenor.

One of the brightest members of the team, according to fans, was Boris Voinov, who worked in the team until 1993. Music lovers also noted the tenor Vladislav Vasilkovsky, who almost immediately left the group and moved to America.

The debut performances of the group took place with the support of the Jewish charitable organization "Joint". Performances of the "Turetsky Choir" began in Kyiv, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Chisinau. Interest in the Jewish musical tradition manifested itself with renewed vigor.

The Turetsky Choir group decided to win over foreign music lovers as well. In the early 1990s, the new band traveled to Canada, France, Great Britain, America and Israel with their concerts.

As soon as the group began to enjoy huge popularity, relations became strained. As a result of conflicts in the mid-1990s, the Turetsky Choir group split up - one half of the soloists remained in Moscow, and the other moved to Miami.

There the musicians worked under the contract. The team, which worked in Miami, replenished the repertoire with Broadway classics and jazz hits.

In 1997, soloists led by Mikhail Turetsky joined the farewell tour Joseph Kobzon across the Russian Federation. Together with the Soviet legend, the Turetsky Choir gave about 100 concerts.
