Imagine Dragons: how did it all start?

Dan Reynolds (vocalist) and Andrew Tolman (drummer) studied at Brigham Young University in 2008. Having met and revealed their talents, they began to create a group.

They soon met Andrew Beck, Dave Lemke and Aurora Florence. The name Imagine Dragons is an anagram. Only the members of the band officially know the words that the title refers to. The original lineup of the band recorded the EP Speak To Me in 2008.

Andrew Beck and Aurora Florence soon left the group. They were replaced by Wayne Sermon (guitarist) and Andrew Tolman's wife, Brittany Tolman (backing vocals and keyboards).

Wayne Sermon is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts. When Dave Lemke left Imagine Dragons, he was replaced by Ben McKee (classmate of Wayne Sermon from Berkeley).

After a short time, the group was popular in Provo (Utah). And in 2009, the musicians decided to move to Las Vegas (the hometown of Dan Reynolds).

An early break for the team occurred in 2009. Then Pat Monahan (the main vocalist of Train) fell ill shortly before performing at the Bite of Las Vegas festival. The group, gathering their courage, decided at the last minute to perform in front of 26 people. Then the musicians received awards and the nomination "Best Local Indie Band of 2010".

The group continued to test the line-up. And soon in 2011, Brittany and Andrew Tolman left. Their replacement was Daniel Platzman. Teresa Flaminio (keyboardist) joined the band at the end of 2011. But she left after the release of the first album.

In November 2011, Imagine Dragons announced that they had signed a recording deal with Interscope Records. She also shared plans that she wants to work with English producer Alex da Kid on the first album.
