Jinjer is a metal band from Ukraine that storms the "ears" of not only Ukrainian music lovers. Creativity "Ginger" interested in European listeners. In 2013-2016, the group received the Best Ukrainian Music Act award. The guys are not going to stop at the achieved result, however, today, they take a reference point more to the domestic scene, since the Europeans know much more about Jinjer than their compatriots.
Alexander Kardanov (team manager) said the following about the success of the group in his native country:
“Such music is not in great demand in Ukraine, but it is really appreciated abroad. This is a foreign culture. They have been doing this kind of work for many years. In Ukraine, everything is different. For our listeners, what we do is a new product. While there was an iron curtain of the USSR, we did not know about the existence of such music. But, if we live in Ukraine, then Jinjer will continue to represent Ukraine on the world stage. We are satisfied…".
The history of formation and the composition of the Jinjer group
The team was formed in 2009 on the territory of Gorlovka (Donetsk region). At that time, the talented Max Fatullayev held the microphone in his hands. Some time later he moved to the USA. Max wanted to improve his life. The group was on the brink of collapse. The team did not know how to exist without a vocalist, so the activity of "Ginger" was put on "pause" for some time.
A year later, the position of the team improved. With the arrival of Tatyana Shmaylyuk to the team, the position of all musicians without exception has changed. The group seemed to have pulled out a ticket to a happy future. Tanya's high-quality growl and clean vocals brought the whole team to a completely different level.
The team did a great job. Long rehearsals soon paid off. From now on, the tracks of "Ginger" will repeatedly occupy the first lines in the international charts.
As it should be for almost all groups, the composition changed several times. So, in 2015, the team was left by the one who stood at the origins of the formation of Ginger - Dmitry Oksen.
Today the group looks like this: Roman Ibramkhalilov, Evgeny Abdukhanov, Vlad Ulasevich and Tatyana Shmaylyuk. It was in this composition that the team achieved worldwide recognition and popularity.
The creative path of the Jinjer group
The release of the debut LP OIMACTTA took place in 2009. For that period of time, the guys recorded a collection with the first vocalist. The record did not touch the hearts of heavy music fans.
The position of the group changed in 2012. It was then that the guys, with the support of the new vocalist Tatyana Shmaylyuk, released a longplay, which brought the first portion of popularity. We are talking about the collection Inhale. Don't Breathe.
The tracks of the presented disc were imbued with the best manifestation of groove metal with elements of metalcore. The following year, Ginger deservedly became the best metal band in Ukraine.
On the wave of popularity, the premiere of another collection took place. Cloud Factory - turned out to be as successful as the previous longplay. The main highlight of the new compositions was Tatyana's signature growl vocals, the musicians' guitar riffs and English-language lyrics. Such a mix allowed the Ukrainian team to conquer the foreign stage. The group focused on foreign music lovers and made the right choice.
Signing with Napalm Records
In 2016, the artists were forced to leave Horlivka. The tense situation in Donetsk did not allow the team to develop normally. The Ukrainian band was noticed by the prestigious label Napalm Records, which specialized in underground metal music.
Reference: Napalm Records is an Austrian record company specializing in underground metal music and gothic music. The label was founded in 1992.
The news from the guys did not end there. Already this year they have replenished their discography with the collection King of Everything. The musicians shot a bright video for the track Pisces, which was accepted by the public with a bang. Meanwhile, "Ginger" became the leading representatives of the metal scene.
2018 turned out to be very eventful and productive for the team. They have played over a hundred shows on four continents. In addition, the guys from Gorlovka performed for the first time at the best venues in America and Japan. In the same period of time, a mini-disc was released, which was called Micro. Clips were filmed for several tracks.
A year later, Napalm Records released the full-length album Macro. Listeners were most touched by the piece of music Home Back. The artists dedicated the song to people who, due to hostilities in their native country, were forced to leave their home.
The artists also planned to cancel the tour, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tour had to be canceled for an indefinite period. In the same year, fans enjoyed the tracks of the live album Alive In Melbourne.
Jinjer: our days
At the end of August 2021, the band's discography was replenished with one more album. We are talking about the album Wallflowers. The collection is topped by 11 cool tracks. In the same year they played concerts. For the first time in several years, the musicians performed in Russia. The concerts were held in the COVID-FREE format. After the concert on the territory of the Russian Federation, the guys will go to Europe, the USA and Canada.
Many Ukrainians criticized the artists for their decision to perform in the aggressor country. At the same time, some defenders of Jinjer believe that it was the decision of the Austrian label to which the guys are signed, and the musicians themselves did not decide anything.
