As a child, the performer learned to play the piano, guitar and percussion instruments, but music continued to be his hobby. He did not set himself the goal of becoming a musician.

Moreover, before conquering Olympus, he did not even perform at the amateur level, and his first performance made him famous. As a result, he graduated from high school and decided to pursue music.

The singer's childhood passed in his homeland, where he fell in love with music. Joel took over his interest in creativity from his parents, who preferred to listen to hard rock. According to Adams' mother, he grew up listening to the songs of Led Zeppelin and James Taylor.

The first steps of Joel Adams in a musical career

Joel's first experience in creating tracks was at the age of 11. However, at that time he had not yet thought about the beginning musical career. Moreover, the artist even made the decision to participate in auditions for the X Factor show at the very last moment.

Nevertheless, he became a real star in his school, and also participated in many talent shows. For one of them, he wrote a song that glorified him throughout the world. It was after this that Joel thought about starting a musical career.

In parallel with this, he received a secondary education and traveled around the country in search of opportunities for his own promotion.

Few people know that the beginning of the creative path was laid a little earlier. In 2011, Adams opened a YouTube channel to which he posted cover versions. Thanks to participation in the X Factor show, many listeners signed up for it.

Joel Adams on The X Factor

For the first time, Joel became known to the public thanks to the performance of a cover version of the songs of Michael Jackson, as well as the performance of Paul McCartney's The Girlis Mine.

The recording from the concert "scattered" among users on the network, and Adams himself received incredible support from the audience.

In 2012, Joel auditioned for the Australian version of The X Factor. The decision to do so was made at the last moment, but as a result, it was it that became crucial. Then the singer was only 15 years old, so he had no experience of performing on stage.

He later said that it was his first live performance in his entire life. Joel received positive reviews from the jury for his voice and singing talent. The broadcast impressed the audience, and the video with the performance gained over 7 million views.

He later became one of the contenders to win the show. Joel was also one of the youngest members. Despite the significant support of the "fans", he did not manage to win.

An interesting fact is that Joel performed on the show under his real name, but at the beginning of his career, he decided to take a pseudonym. The Portuguese pronunciation seemed inconspicuous to him, but he was remembered by the public.

Developing your talents and a successful career

After receiving a large "fan" base, he decided to release the first single. He subsequently wrote lyrics for Please Don't Go. It is noteworthy that the song was created for a talent contest held at his school. As a result, the single became a real sensation and was played all over the world for several weeks.

The song was released in November 2015. This composition was released by Will Walker Records. The video has received 77 million views.

In addition, she gained popularity on other continents, hitting the charts in Canada, Sweden and Norway. Also, the composition for a long time was in the leading positions of the British ratings. Having received worldwide success, Joel began to be considered a real phenomenon.

Spotify ranked him 16th on their Top Upcoming Artists list. In total, Please Don't Go has been played over 400 million times. Adams revealed that he was working on recording his debut studio album in November 2016.

In early 2017, Joel released a second single, Die for You, which became free for users to download. A year and a half later, the next single, Fake Friends, was released. It was recorded in collaboration with Zach Skelton and Ryan Tedder.

Unfortunately, the song was a "failure", not gathering the proper audience. For example, on YouTube, the video clip received only 373 thousand views, which cannot be compared with the success of the first composition.

For Joel, 2019 was a very fruitful year, he managed to write five songs: A Big World, Coffee, Kingdom, Slipping of the Edge, Christmas Lights.
