Childhood Kaylani Ashley Parrish

Kaylani Ashley Parrish was born on April 24, 1995 in Auckland. Her parents were drug addicts. Mother gave birth to Keilani without medical intervention, because she was hiding from the persecution of law enforcement agencies.

My father was not around at that time, he participated in childbirth by calling his wife in labor. Keilani was born with withdrawal symptoms because her mother did not stop taking drugs throughout her pregnancy.

The girl's father died when she was only 1 year old, and her mother was found and sent to prison for selling drugs.

The mother's sister dropped out of college and adopted the girl. When the aunt had her daughters, Keilani actively helped in their upbringing.

Kehlani's early career

Aunt Keilani noticed in the girl a penchant for music and plastic and sent her to the studio at the College of Art for viewing. The girl was engaged in ballet and modern types of dances. The dream of getting into the famous Juilliard School was shattered due to a leg injury.

But the aunt, who gives musical preferences in the style of R&B and neo-soul, convinced the girl to try herself in the vocal field.

At the age of 14, Keilani's friend invited her to audition. The group's repertoire consisted of cover versions of famous compositions, and the boy's father was the producer. After passing the audition, Keilani became the vocalist of the pop group Poplyfe.

In 2010, Keilani ran away from the house of her aunt, who was against the start of her independent life, and went on tour with the band. A year later, the Poplyfe group took 4th place in the popular show "America's Got Talent".

Departure from the group and independent solo career

One of the members of the commission publicly noted the girl's talent, but considered that she was wasted in vain on work in a group. After a quarrel with the musicians, Keilani left the group. It was impossible to start a solo career without help, and the singer returned to her aunt's house.

After living at home for a year, under the constant supervision of a relative, the singer could not stand the fact that she could not make music in her city, and fled to Los Angeles.

Moving to the city of show business

After moving to Los Angeles, Kaylani began to live by odd jobs. She received an offer from one of the producers of America's Got Talent, Nick Cannon. But the girl refused, the style of the team in which they offered to participate did not suit her.

With money borrowed from her aunt, Kaylani recorded her first song Antisummerluv and posted it on SoundCloud. The song caused a real sensation on the network, and Cannon contacted the singer again, gave her an apartment and became the girl's producer.
