Lara Fabian (Lara Fabian): Biography of the singer

Lara Fabian was born on January 9, 1970 in Etterbeek (Belgium) to a Belgian mother and an Italian. She grew up in Sicily before emigrating to Belgium.

At the age of 14, her voice became known in the country during the tours that she held with her guitarist father. Lara gained significant stage experience which gave her opportunities to present herself in the 1986 Tremplin competition.

The beginning of the musical career of Lara Fabian

Every year in Brussels they hold this competition for young performers. For Lara Fabian, this is a successful performance, as she received three main prizes.

Two years later, she placed 4th in the song contest "Eurovision» with the composition Croire. Sales increased to 600 thousand copies throughout Europe.

At the ADISQ 95 Gala, where there was also a Félix award, Lara Fabian was honored with the prestigious Best Performer of the Year and Best of Show awards. At the same time, she was also awarded in Toronto at the Juno ceremony (the English equivalent of the award).

Album Pure

When Pure's third album was released in October 1996 (in Canada), Lara became a star. The collection was recorded thanks to Rick Allison (producer of the first two discs). She was also surrounded by famous lyricists, including Daniel Seff (Ici) and Daniel Lavoie (Urgent Désir).

In 1996, The Walt Disney Company asked Lara to play the role of Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Lara became so popular that she decided to finally integrate herself into the life and culture of Quebec. On July 1, 1996, on the occasion of Canada Day, a young Belgian became Canadian.

1997 was a European year for Lara Fabian because her album was a huge success on the continent. Pure was released on June 19, and Tout was selling 500 copies. On September 18, she received the first European gold record presented by PolyGram Belgium.

On October 26, 1997, out of five nominations, Félix Fabian received the award for "Most Played Album of the Year". In January 1998, she returned to her native Europe to start a tour. It took place on January 28 at the Olympia de Paris.

A few days later, Lara Fabian received the Victoire de la Musique. 

After the Enfoirés concert organized by Restos du Coeur in 1998, Lara fell in love with Patrick Fiori. He played the beautiful Phoebus from the musical Notre Dame de Paris.

Lara Fabian: America at any cost

After Michel Sardu invited Lara to sing a duet with him in June during a stay at the Molson Center in Montreal, Johnny Hallyday asked Lara Fabian to sing with him in September.

During the mega show at the Stade de France, Johnny sang Requiem Pour Un Fou with Lara.

During the summer, Lara Fabian continued to record an album in English. It was released in November 1999 in Europe and Canada. The 24-show French tour confirmed Lara's place as a star in France.

Recorded in the United States, London and Montreal, Adagio is the work of American producers. It took two years to write it down.

The work was attended by: Rick Ellison, as well as Walter Afanasiev, Patrick Leonard and Brian Rowling. With this record, Lara Fabian tried to break into the international market. And in particular to the United States, in the footsteps of Celine Dion.

Her album sold over 5 million copies in just a few months. The single I Will Love Again reached number 1 on the Billboard Club games chart. But the real challenge was its release in the United States on May 30, 2000.

Lara Fabian reached number 6 on the Billboard-Heatseeker due to promotion and TV appearances on America Watches (Tonight Show with Jay Leno).

In the summer of 2000, she performed with a triumphant tour of 24 cities in France, Belgium and Switzerland. The artist won the Félix Award for Best Quebec Artist. This year, Lara broke up with Patrick Fiori.

Lara Fabian and Celine Dion

In January 2001, Lara took part in the annual Enfoirés humanitarian operation with 30 French performers. It was obvious that the singer was trying to take the lead.

There were no two places for French-speaking singers. A Celine Dion was an independent queen in this area. 

On March 2, she sang I Will Love Again in the Miss USA contest.

From March 18 to March 31, she did a big promotional show in Brazil. In it, one of her songs Love By Grace was regularly broadcast in the famous television series. This immediately strengthened the reputation of the singer. 

June 2001 was a new stage for Lara Fabian in her conquest of the American "star system". She performed the song For Always as the soundtrack to Spielberg's latest film AI.

Album Nue

In July 2001, the song J'y Crois Encore was released a few weeks before the release of the new album with the loud name Nue. Lara wrote lyrics in French and was eager to reconnect with her French-speaking audience.

This album, recorded in Montreal, was produced by Rick Allison. The recipe for success is a powerful voice, simple and catchy melodies, well-thought-out arrangements. The collection was very pleased with the fans immediately after the release.

In addition to "promoting" the album, in October the singer recorded a song in Portuguese Meu Grand Amor for the Brazilian soap opera on TV Globo. It was also broadcast in Portugal, Latin America and the United States. A few weeks later, Lara also recorded the song Et Maintenant with Florent Pagney. She appeared on the Deux album.

As a result of the FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan, Lara Fabian released an album in which "fans" heard the song World At Your Feet. This song, performed by Lara, represented Belgium in the championship.

Lara and her team have released a double live CD and DVD Lara Fabian Live. 

Then the singer went on an acoustic tour again. Between November 2002 and February 2003 Lara gave a concert. The CD En Toute Intimité also included the song Tu Es Mon Autre. Her Fabian sang in a duet with Moran. The compositions from the album were played on the Bambina radio. In particular, the song she performed with Jean-Félix Lalanne. Lara Fabian tried to show herself in the international market, like Celine Dion. In May 2004, she released the English language album A Wonderful Life. This album did not meet the expected success. The singer quickly moved on to the design of the new studio album in French.

The album "9" was released in February 2005. The cover depicts the singer in a fetal position. The "fans" concluded that it was a matter of rebirth. Lara Fabian has made a number of changes in her personal and artistic life. Lara Fabian left Quebec to settle in Belgium. She also changed the composition of her team.

In this album, she turned to Jean-Félix Lalanne for compositions. His voice was a little reserved, less insistent. Almost all the texts written by him speak of the found love and happiness. A new life appeared in full measure for the young woman.

Lara Fabian then released in October 2006 an album version of "9" by Un Regard Neuf. In 2007, she released the duet Un Cuore Malato with singer Gigi D'Alessio. She also gave birth to a child from her life partner, director Gerard Pullicino, whom she had been dating for four years. Their daughter Lu was born on November 20, 2007.

Lara appeared in May 2009 with a new album cover for Toutes Les Femmes En Moi. 

In November 2010, a double best album was released. Lara has invested in the development of her career in Russia and the countries of the East. There she became a star, increasing the number of concerts. These countries saw her show in November of the same year with the album Mademoiselle Zhivago. The disc totaled 800 copies sold in Eastern Europe.

The release of this project in France and the countries of the East finally took place in June 2012. Without a record company, this release was at a certain level of popularity, the album was distributed only in small quantities.

Album Le Secret (2013)

In April 2013, Lara Fabian released the original album Le Secret released on her label. The tour began in the autumn, but health problems required the singer to cancel her concerts.

In June 2013, Lara Fabian married Italian Gabriel Di Giorgio in a small village in Sicily.

After an accident and subsequent hearing problems, Lara became a victim of sudden deafness. And she was forced to rest at home. In January 2014, the artist finally canceled all concerts for treatment.
