The first joint performances made an indelible impression on Leonid. The guys toured throughout the Soviet Union. Bortkevich became a permanent member of the team. At that time, Pesnyary had no competition in popularity.
By the mid-70s, the musicians had released over 40 million LPs. After some time, the group traveled abroad. They traveled to 15 states of America and organized more than 100 concerts. When the musicians were offered to organize a world tour, they were forced to refuse. It's all the fault of the foundations of Soviet politics. At the end of the 70s, Leonid Leonidovich received the title of Honored Artist.
Bortkiewicz realized that without a profile education he would not go far. In the early 80s, he entered GITIS. He chose for himself the faculty of variety direction. Leonid Leonidovich had a hard time. It was difficult for him to combine work on stage and study. When I had to choose: work at Pesnyary or study, the young man chose the second option. For some time he was listed as a soloist of "Malva", and after 9 years, together with his family, he moved to America.
After 10 years, he returned to his homeland and visited an old friend - Vladimir Mulyavin. He invited Bortkiewicz to participate in the Golden Hit. On stage, he seemed to come to life. Leonid's life changes dramatically. He leaves America and joins the group.
After the death of Mulyavin, Leonid assembled his own project. His offspring lasted until 2008, and then broke up. In 2009, new Pesnyary were organized, which included Bortkevich. The team exists to this day. Throughout 2019 and part of 2020, the musicians toured.

He passed away on April 13, 2021. At the time of his death, the artist was only 71 years old. Relatives did not voice the cause of death. The funeral ceremony took place in Minsk.
