Yura was born into an ordinary Soviet family of an accountant and a design engineer. The father, according to his mood, pulled furs on the button accordion and sang soulful songs.

The Alma-Ata Musical College with great joy opened its doors to Yuri and he received an education. Then VIA "Integral" accepted him into his team. Barry Karimovich Alibasov successfully promoted the ensemble.
Already in 1980, the band became famous at the Rhythms of Spring rock festival. Then an acquaintance with the "sharks" of rock and roll Andrei Makarevich and Mikhail Grebenshchikov took place.
