The Beginning of Luscious Jackson's Journey

In 1991, Jill Cunniff and Gabby Glaser created the band's first showcase thanks to tips received from serving customers at a coffee shop. The band's first live performance was at a concert by the Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill.

At the same time, Kate Schellenbach, a member of the Beastie Boys, decided to become a member of the Luscious Jackson group and sat down at the percussion instruments. Vivian Trimble took over keyboards and backing vocals.

In 1992, the group of girls released the mini-album In Search of Manny, which consists of three songs from the original demo, as well as four new songs. The songs Let Yourself Get Down and Daughters of The Kaos were released as promotional singles. A video was filmed for the last song.

This album included three hits: City Song, Deep Shag and Here. The latter was even featured in the movie Clueless by Alyssia Silverstone. The group did not stop there and created music videos for all three hits.

The group gained significant success in 1994-1995. At this time, the girls participated in the famous Lollapalooza tour. And also repeatedly they became guests of popular TV shows. One such show was Saturday Night Live, Viva Variety and MTV's 120 Minutes. In addition, the girls also appeared in the fashion "segment" of the MTV House of Style channel along with Sidney Crawford.

The breakup of Luscious Jackson

Luscious Jackson began 1998 with George Gershwin's I'm Got a Crush on You. This was done for the album Red Hot Organization, a compilation of Red Hot + Rhapsody.

This album was dedicated to George Gershwin, who raised money for many charities that fought to raise awareness of AIDS among the US population.

The musicians became members of the advertising company The Gap. Their Christmas ad Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! was voted the most popular of all TV campaigns.

Tired of touring, there was a desire to engage in other musical projects. This prompted Vivian Trimble to leave Luscious Jackson. Then Vivian Trimble and Josephine Wiggs released an album called Dusty Trails.

In 1999, Luscious Jackson released their third full-length LP, Electric Honey, and the single Lady Fingers. The single was a good success, the video was even put into rotation on VH1. In addition, Lady Fingers appeared in an episode of the popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
